Beretta joins the striker fired family.

I agree with you, TDC. You could load up a revolver just as fast as an auto. Moonclips, compIII's, etc.

That wasn't my point and I disagree. Aligning six rounds with six small holes on a cylinder that rotated is far more difficult than sliding a long stick into a large hole.

It's true...there is a fundamental understanding and desire we all have when it comes to cramming our sticks in holes. Never underestimate the primal aspects of shooting!

Seriously, though...it is easier, and you generally do not need to do it as frequently with an auto as with a revolver. So you are faced with this question:

In the event that my life has suddenly begun to suck so hard that I just had to empty a gun at someone/something just to keep on living for a few more minutes, and I'm not even done this stage and need to keep shooting at stuff or I think I will probably die, would I rather

a) attempt a reload which is a bit easier, less frequently

b) attempt a reload which is a bit harder, more frequently

It can definitely be argued that 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 shots will probably be enough.

But it can also be argued that calling 911 will probably be enough. In fact if you run the numbers, I would guess "never worrying about being attacked" is probably enough for the overwhelming majority of people.

But if I'm that one guy with the winning Lotto Max of Suck ticket shooting at people, personally I want every conceivable advantage.

I knew after I posted someone would make the parallel to ###ual innuendo.;)

You're absolutely right, for most folks for the remainder of their life, not being overly concerned about being a victim is enough. As you state, should you be the that overly unlucky individual, its best to stack the deck at every possible opportunity. A high capacity semi auto and a dozen friends with the same is what I wish for, but sadly its not a realistic option. Until then, I'll stick with an auto over a revolver, and training over blind ignorance.

Not particularly pleasing to the eyes, but it seems like a very well engineered piece.

Benefit of the doubt.

Yeah, I didn't think that particular choice of words was entirely accidental.

Honestly I didn't realize what I had typed until I posted. I guess I could have changed it but then again it was a rather large carrot to not have someone bite.;)

I knew you wouldn't, I was just making light of it..;)
I suspected that was your reasoning.
