I bought a Beretta M1 Garand receiver from Tradex a while back and am now getting motivated to start my build. However i was warned by a friend that some where .308 and some were 30-06. HE is concerned that i may have a .308 receiver. How do i know the difference? I would prefer to make it .30-06 but i will do whatever the receiver is if that is the case.

I love the .308 cartridge in the Garand receiver(s). What's not to like? If you read Scott Duff's book(s), he speaks of Mr. Jean C. Garand's experiments (T-series rifles) converting Garand receivers to .308 in the earliest stages of prototyping until the T-44 (?) receivers began to mature.... Don't quote me. I'm getting old and I gave away all my books.

Cheers,
