I have a quick question/concern with regards to my nice brands new Beretta.

When I took it apart for the initial de-grease and lube jobs, I couldn't help but notice the plastic recoil spring guide rod.

Now, I'm none too keen on plastic bits in a gun's workings so does anyone know if those rods will withstand regular use or if I want to get something sturdier in the near future?

Now a day many guns use plastic guide rod and I cannot see any problem. Both my CZ and G17 come with plastic guide rod, I like this idea as I perfer worn out a plastic part than worn out the hole on the slide.

Most new guns use a plastic guide rod, its the way of the future. I'm sure if you look hard enough you could find an aftermarket replacement, but there really isnt any need to.

I have seen many Beretta's with the metal guide rods have to have it replaced because it was dropped on the rod by accident. Plastic ones have been used for a while and like already said, are used in my guns. shoot it and enjoy.

I know that the one that they use in the PX4 sometimes warps after a couple of thousand rounds (seen it once or twice). I've also seen them break during cleaning (someone usually drops them on the floor then steps on it).
