Was the Beretta Mato rifle ever sold in Canada?

I've seen at least two for sale in the EE over the years.

A friend in Calgary had one. Think it came from a beretta rep who said there only a few in Canada v

I have one, in 7mm Rem Mag. Great rifle, bit heavy by the modern standard.

Yes they were sold here in Canada. I remember Wholesale Sports in Calgary had them for sale back in early 2000-2003'ish.
The odd one has popped up for sale on the EE but haven't seen anything in a very long time.

Interesting, I wonder if it was made by some one else and beretta put there name on it? When the BRX1 came out I kind of recall them to say it was there first civilian hunting rifle… but I must recall wrong.

Kayaker1 is exactly right. They were a Dakota 97 action.
