Beretta's new modular 5.56mm short stroke gas piston platform. The upper/lower receivers are proprietary and not compatible with AR-15 lowers.

Development began in 2018, first prototypes went out in 2022. Critical design review passed in April 2023 and officially unveiled in September of that year.

No commercial variant yet. If a semi-auto export version is built, it would be theoretically NR and fully C-21 compliant like the Makasi and Carmel.

Oh my gawd!

What is so hush hush about the internals? It is a blocked BGC riding on steel rail bolted on to an aluminum receiver. This is not like hk G11….

As much as I want this rifle to come to Canada more than anything, I believe it will go the way of the Beretta ARX.

I sincerely hope I am wrong.

If you don't want to watch youbue , this is the summary.

It uses essentially a HK416 barrel nut / handguard attachment system again - with a QD lever, but using the compression of the handguard like a lot of commercial handguard design. Barrel Trunnion held by two bolts ( looks like a clamp piece made of steel ) to an aluminum receiver - that geometry reminds me of Bren 2, it is basically a beefed up and more intelligent aka more expensive design of the Bren 2.

The push rod is guided by a second fixture on the barrel - so they make sure the push rod cannot be angular deflected if the barrel is not true to the receiver, because it won't install.

Looks like a bolt on forward assist.

As to why the NARP lost this race - basically the SAKO HK 416 inspired entry is lighter, simpler and slimmer, and does the same thing and probably cheaper. Compared this ( and MCX )to the HK416, this thing is a bit more complicated.

They really should talk about the suppressors, those are more interesting.

This would be a buy from me. I like the slim(mer) handguard.

I would be interested in this. But currently they don't make a civilian model. The longest barrel is 16in so far.

Here's hoping.

👍👍

The Beretta ARX was of similar design, & the dickheads at the SFSS/RCMP refused to FRT it for the lamest reason ever. 👎🥴🇨🇦😡🖕

I hope I am wrong, & will pray to God that it doesn't happen to this one. 🙏
