Beretta O/U....worth it?

Good information. Thank you.

There are significant differences between the 680 series actions and the DT10 including different locking systems and the DT 10's removable trigger. The DT10 is not part of the 680 series but is based on the discontinued ASE90.

Among the currently-produced 680 series (682, 686 and 687) the actions are same, internal parts interchange among them and the main differences are cosmetic and on some a trigger that is adjustable for length and automatic safety.

Here are two links from Midwest Gun Works, a Beretta authorized factory service centre, which shows that most internal action parts are common among the series. What parts are model specific are usually on the outside and the differences are cosmetic.

The spares kit for the 680 guns covers all of them.

Beretta may argue the higher grades are somewhat better fitted and finished internally but the basic action is the same whether it's a White Wing or a EELL.

To add to the above:

I believe the SX3's design is more closely related to the Browning Gold and Silver. The gas system on the Maxus is apparently an updated version. It uses a different piston, etc.

As to the Maxus and SX3 gas actions -- they are identical

They maybe alike in the way they operate but are not identical.both employ the active gas valve .however the valves are of a different design along with the fact that the spacer tube is completely different.on the maxus the valve and the spacer tube snap together to make one unit and the spacer tube in made of aluminum.on the sx3 the valve only sits on top of the spacer tube that is made of polymer.as is the case with the silver hunter.

Do these gas pistons look alike? One is from an SX3, and the other from a Maxus. Now, are you still going to claim that the actions are identical?

Well...they both have a piston with a valve and a spring in them...oh and can't forget the vent holes to allow the excess gas to bleed off. Hahaha! I can't believe the mods still allow that clown to post anything. How many people have to be induced in error before something is done?!!

The Beretta o/u guns have a history as a good competition gun and is not likely to break down . But if it does there are parts available and many gunsmiths who can fix Berettas. If you break a spring on a used Turkish gun, where would you go?. I bought a used older Beretta 682 sporting clays gun for $1500 from Ellwood Epps. It has the thicker frame and best of all, it has a custom left handed stock.
A well-looked after used gun of a good make, Browning, or Beretta is a much better deal than a new import whose name you never never heard of. The 686 is the best value and will keep its value too. Belgian Brownings too, although Citoris aren't bad.

But of course!

So I finally got an answer from Beretta (like a week later!)

It reads exactly like this:

Hello Alex:

Thank you for contacting Beretta Customer Support.

Mechanically -- the 682 and 686 are for the most part the same internally.
DT10 is a different design.

They all get separated into field, sporting and trap groups. Field and sporting can fit together but trap is different because those guns are configured to shoot high.

There are several different places on the web that can give you more detailed information. Try Sunset Productions for example.

A few friends of mine and myself cannot choose between your o/u models. 682, 686, and DT10.

Would you be so kind to explain the major differences in their action?

Thank you.
