Beretta o/u

At least we know what it is now then!
The length of pull is shorter than what is/was standard on those guns though. Is the butt plate curved or straight cut? I've seen S56's both ways and if it has the curved butt plate then chances are that it hasn't been cut down as most people change it to a straight cut if they shorten them. It's not definitive though.
It doesn't sound as if it matters whether the gun fits you or not as your looking for wood to replace the existing stuff anyway.
The good news is that these are a very good quality firearm but the bad news is that finding wood for it is going to be a challenge!

I talked to my dad, he says he bought the gun new off the rack in or around 1967. he says he didnt modify it or shorten it . which would be supported by the curved plastic beretta butt plate that has no signs of being altered to fit a cut butt. odd that it seems short, maybe it was a specific model that was built a little shorter? who knows.

People were smaller back then and a hunting gun was probably a little shorter to accommodate a quick mount to the shoulder.
