Two different guns on different platforms both with advantages and disadvantages.

Generally speaking the Berettas are gas-operated guns meaning they will tolerate a wider range of shell power, are heavier, softer shooting but have more complex mechanisms that are somewhat more difficult to clean. IMO Beretta sets the standard for semi-automatic shotgun reliability with all types of loads.

The Benellis are recoil or inertia action guns. They are lighter, have more felt recoil, don't tolerate lighter loads well but with full power loads are every bit as reliable as the Beretta. The inertia action is very simple and easy to clean.

They are both excellent guns. I own two Berettas but my guns do double duty in the field and for clay shooting and must shoot lighter loads. For your purposes I'd probably choose a Benelli M2 as I don't feel a need for 3-1/2" chambers but if you do then the Super Black Eagle would be the gun to consider. But if you want a softer shooting gun and might venture out to shoot clays then consider the Berettas.
