i have decided i want to buy the beretta 92 fs, Or the 92a1. my question is girsan makes what looks like the same pistols for 300 less, It says it's modeled after them with the same reliability. I am new to this and not sure if i should spent the extra money for the beretta. what do you guys think?

I have a compact railed, and a standard full size Girsan. I think they are the better value, as that extra $300 doesn't really get you anything improved, and the Beretta has plastic safety, trigger, and guiderod where the Girsan is all metal.

Your best bet is to try and handle both in store.

That said, the girsan is a legitimate clone, the beretta 92 patent is expired so anyone can make em. I'm pretty sure the Turkish military uses the girsan. Rumor is h&k set up the tooling for them but I'm not sure if that's true.

I have a girsan. Shot a few Italianmade 92's. Fit and finish is 100% as good as Beretta despite being made in Turkey. I was told by someone once that they're using original Beretta tooling/manufacturing equipment. Not sure if it's true. My girsan is an awesome shooter. Actuallly has more metal parts than it's Italian counterpart ...

Unless you want the name, the Girsan is very nice. You will see some minor differences on the grip, but they are nearly identical, noting the above mentioned upgrades. I have the full-size Inox version. Last week I put nearly 800 rounds through it with only one malfunction (looks like it was the bullet that was the problem). Very nice shooter.

The only real world difference between the Beretta and the Girsan is one is the Italian original and the other is a Turkish copy.
For $300 less, I'm sure you can live with it! I have a 92FS and have handled a Girsan. They definitely don't feel $300 worth of difference!

I handled both before I bought one. Girsan is better quality. So I bought one off EE. It's really nice and accurate. Factory mags are mecgar Italian made. Everything is just smooth. Here's a teaser

Had mine for about 2 years now, about 1500 down the pipe, no issues. From what I have read, the Girsans are modelled off the Beretta 92F, not the 92FS, so if you were to put 50,000 rounds through it without cleaning, inspection, or replacing worn parts, the slide COULD break, and if it DID break, it COULD come off the rails and hit you in the face... Interesting history on that story, but keep in mind those army boys were running these things hard with the equivalent of 9mm+p... Long story short, love mine, and the CanadaAmmo Safariland holster I got for mine fits nicely, mine is the non-railed version (but I picked up a set of recover grips for it if I ever feel the need to attach a light to it).

i have looked at a few for sale on the site here. And the ones that i saw with a price, are pretty close to the price they are new. so resale seems to be pretty good.

Echo all of the above, Girsan is a great pistol. Beretta new production has a plastic guide rod and trigger. Girsan is all metal, finish is great. All Beretta accessories and replacement parts fit exactly like into the Girsan

Who's got the best deals on spankin' new Girsans? Maybe gotta get me one to try out.
