Beretta Releases G Series Decocker Kit for the 92 and 96

I would be happy if I could find dealer with a Brigadier never mind the Decocker kit. Oh well, I may have to settle for an A1 or an A3.

Take Care

Bob

I have a elite 1A that is a G and wanted to order the parts to make my others a G and Beretta told me the slide had to be machined to accept the parts because G model slides were different than FS models. Wilson Combat said they could machine the slide and do the conversion but it was an outrageous price. Beretta also said when they released the M9A3 that the slide was machined to accept either configuration and that they would soon be releasing a kit to convert it. Seems like Beretta has been feeding people some BS and Wilson have been raping some people on an inexpensive modification. Rant over. Who has the kits in stock or has them coming?

Definitely interested in who will be carrying the kits. I'm amazed no Canadian dealers carry the "D" spring, or any of the other frequently upgraded springs.

Which reminds me! No one carries metal guide rods as far as I know either! Would love one for my PPQ and 92fs

Not sure how people think Wilson has been raping people over their conversion jobs? Beretta just released this, BRAND NEW system for converting to G. This is not the same system a proper G model uses, nor is it the same way Wilson and others were doing it. This is a totally new design. Sure it's been in the works for years, but until it was released your only other option was to have your slide machined to take normal G levers.

So why would Beretta even bother to machine the M9A3 to accept the old G parts if they were going to release a new one anyway, and why make the M9A3 owners wait for this kit when the old G parts would have worked, and why string customers along and feed them BS stories for almost a year.

Because the right hand seldom knows what the left hand is doing. Policy at Beretta for many many years was to not release G models to the general public. That changed when Ernest got the Elite IIs built and sold, but then they stopped making Elites. Then they made some PX4s in G and released them, but Italy was unhappy with that. At some point people also discovered that Cougars could be converted simply by removing one spring loaded detent. Some more PX4s got released, and finally became a regular seller. Then the idea was floated to just make one slide style, and install whatever components a contract required, simpler, easier machining. But still no intention of releasing G model parts for these new slides to the general public. Meanwhile seeing all the conversions being done at various smiths and having entered into a build agreement with Wilson and Erney, someone got the bright idea to bring to market a kit they'd designed that would allow an easy changeover, but it had to get past the lawyers. All of these things occurred in compartmentalized units of Beretta. If I had a newer slide that would accept original G model parts, I'd be sourcing those instead of this new kit, if I had an old FS slide I'd be getting a new conversion for it. That's if they ever release the original style G model bits.
So yeah, a company that sells hundreds of millions of dollars of guns and such, is going to string you along for these parts....... seriously?

I shoot a vertec because it fits my hand to a T and had been shooting an elite 1A because it was a vertec and a G as well. When I read that the M9A3 was a vertec and was convertable to a G I decided to get one in Feb. After receiving it I called Berettas to find out how to convert it, first they tell me I should have ordered a G, which I find out were not available in Canada anyway. Then they tell me that all the old model G parts are out of stock till June because they are using to fill the orders for the G model A3 but will be putting them all together for sale as a kit soon. I call in June and they tell me that due to higher than expected sales of the G model A3 the parts and or kit wont be available till after the 3rd Q. The kit is released and it turns out its a new kit designed to retro most all previous 92 models. I just went to the gun room for the hell of it and tried to swap the parts from my elite 1a to the A3 as they had told me the A3 was machined to work with either parts. Turns out that was another line of BS, the lever from the elite has a bit different grove on the right side and will fit in the A3, but the hole for the detent on the right is smaller and a different angle on the A3 and wont allow the lever to function the same as when installed on the Elite. Would like to see a pic of a G model A3 to see if it was machined to accept the same G parts as the old ones or if they have been using the new G kit on A3 right from the start. Starting to get really sick of these big companies making up all this BS instead of just telling it the way it is. Actually for the price of the gun, the kit should have come with each one, especially here in Canada where we got regular 10 round mags instead of the 15 round (pinned to 10) sand resistant ones that it was advertised as having.

I've actually engaged the safety when racking the slide at a 3-gun match. Under the "timer pressure" of a match, it really threw me off and took longer than I would care to admit to figure out what had happened.

As has been mentioned, not a life and death thing in Canada, but the slide mounted safety is the one annoyance I have with the 92FS.

This is a welcome upgrade.
