Beretta S-55 - Any opinions ???

I don't know for sure, but installing a stock from a much newer
shot gun like this and having it fit would be lucky.
This is the low end of the baretta line, had one years ago,
nice standard shot gun.
Do you have all the peices of the wood?
if so and it can tacked together, Robert Wilson at Harris, Sask.
can turn you out a new walnut one rough finished for alot less
money than what a factory one will be,which I would think will
be hard to find.

Yes, it's TradeEx. They have been getting in some neat looking O/U and I wanted an inexpensive trap gun. I have since found a little more info. By all accounts, it's a light weight field grade Berretta meant to compete with the cheaper shotguns being offered at the time (late 60's to 70's) and the were the European equivalent of the BL series in North America.

I did end-up buying the gun, so I guess I will find out! FYI: there's a guy with some fine pictures of an S-55 in the Gun section of his website. His S-55 looks great and appears to be very well made. Here's hoping mine will look 1/2 as good.

If I'm not off track a Beretta stock/fore end (provided a 686 one fits) will cost $400+.......suggest check with Numrich Gunparts (they do carry components for older models).....not sure if they are still shipping to Canada.

The S55 frame size IIRC is the same as the 68x series of guns although the double trigger might mean a different sized tang. I'd suggest trying Steve Milton at Precision Arms in King, Ontario. He often has an assortment of gun stocks in his shop and might be able to find one that will fit or can be easily adapted to yours.

That's a good idea.

Gun Parts corp has factory 686 stocks for $100.00 and will ship. Boyds after market as well for about the same price.

Geat deal from Numrich and you don't have to go through the hassle of obtaining import papers (since under $100 as well as being a non-restricted item). I've always had excellent service from them when I was playing more with Milsurps :)

Steve Milton fitted a 686 field stock to my old S55B a few years back. It wasn't a perfect fit cosmetically, but was solid.

I believe the stock from a BL series will interchange exactly, not the 686 series. I also believe there is one for sale on the EE exchange now. You might want to check this out.

Thanks Gerald - I picked the stock up at Epps. :)

So now it looks like I have a total of $500.00 into this gun. I'm not certain if it was such a deal, but I'm happy. Can't wait to take her out.

Cheers,

Richard

PS: Here some pics of the TradeEx shotgun with a stock found at Epps.
