I just got a new SP II and haven't shot it yet, but notice the trigger is much looser and has a lot more play in all directions, cocked or uncocked. I have always used an 870 Wingmaster and it has no play whatsoever. Does anyone know how much trigger play is normal?
Thanks.

Wink, welcome to the board, nice gun. Just how much play are you getting? The trigger should not flop around, but it will not be rigid - a small amount of play is to be expected. If the trigger is too loose you should have it looked at, the pivot hole could have been drilled too large.

Hi Sharptail. Thanks for the response. I was lucky to find an SPII with what appears to be higher grade wood. It's a light burl. I just got back from shooting and patterning it for the first time. Although there is still some side to side trigger play, it was not an issue while shooting and I may have been overly sensitive to the differences between the SPII and the 870. It's a beautiful shotgun and I'm pretty happy with it. I'll have some experienced members of our club look at the pivot hole and maybe take it into a gun shop in Victoria. Thanks for your advice.
