Hello,

Is there anyone familiar with the Beretta Silver Pigeon shotguns? I would like to purchase one but not sure about the overall size of the guns.
Last weekend at the Skeet club a guy had a 20 or 28 gauge that was had a smaller frame (baby frame) then a normal sized lower gauged shotgun.
Does anyone know if the 12 gauge Silver Pigeon III or V have this same type of small frame? I’m not sure a care for the smaller frame, it looks and feels like a toy gun.

Thanks

The 12 gauge Berettas have larger frames than the 20 or 28.

I own a lovely 12Ga Beretta S686 Silver Pigeon with 29" bbls, screw-in chokes, and a Schnabel fore-end which I used to shoot International Trap (competitively) for a number of years with great success. It was also a more-than-deadly skeet and sporting clays gun when I wanted a little fun rather than dedicated practice.

The receiver size of my gun was just slightly shorter vertically and about the same overall-length as the receivers of Perazzi MX-8's and about on-par with the MT-7's used by my then-teammates, and the balance was excellent. It certainly didn't have a small-frame feel or look to it, and stood quite nicely in the rack next to the normally all-blued Perazzis with its electroless nickel and gold-screw finish.

If you have the chance to purchase one at a good price, don't think twice about it.

I got a Silver Pigeon II in the summer, and it still feels very stiff. I heard that the Berettas are designed to be very stiff from factory and once broken in will fit perfectly. Can anyone confirm this?

And to answer your question, I love my II. Finish and looks are amazing, and it shoots like a champ. My friends that shoot Citori's will pick up my gun and instantly increase their hits by 10-15% in skeet (we arent that good) :)

Yes, they'll wear in after a couple thousand rounds.

I'll speak to this as well; mine was stiff as all get-out when I got it, but it wore in quite nicely after just over a thousand rounds... and after two thousand it was smooth as butter - and stayed that way with plenty of doting TLC.

I have a buddy who has a 12 gauge and 28 gauge in a Silver Pigeon S trim. The 28 gauge is a scaled reciever and alot smaller than the 12 gauge version.

My Silver Pigeon V 12 gauge is a full size reciever such as the Silver Pigeon S described above. The action is still very stiff, but my buddy now has 1000 plus rounds through his and its like butter. A beautiful gun and well worth the money.
