Picked up my Beretta cx4 storm in the 9mm and found out that there are 2 models. One model comes with the piccatiny top rail and the other doesn't. I bought the one that doesn't. Apparently, in order to mount the top rail on my gun it must be sent back to Stoeger Canada and drilled and tapped at my time and expense. WTF? I thought I could just buy the rail and mount it myself. There is no indication that they are different models. Even the business that sold me the gun didn't realize this.

I would think Beretta should eat the cost on this?

Where did you buy it.

If that business value their customer and would like to keep you for a very long time they should try to do something for you.

The other option is Call Stoeger Canada, and may be they are willing to help you.

I bought it at Lock and Load for $900.00 including Tax in Edmonton. It was missing the front tri rail, top rail and sling but came with the hard case. He said thats how it came from Beretta. I am almost wandering if he sold some of the parts (like the front tri rail and the sling) from the gun I bought (my gun) as "accessories" to other customers.
P&D sells the CX4 in a 40S&W for the almost the same price ($913.00 including tax) and it comes with all the accessories and hard case. At wholesale sports they had the 9mm for 999.00 and it includes all the accessories but no case.
I was willing to just buy the top rail since I thought at the time that they were only worth maybe $40.00 and I could put it on myself. And the sling to me looked like it was only worth $10.00. What I was really after was the 9mm so I could get it rebarreled to non-restricted and would be cheaper on ammo.
The guy at Lock and Load said he could possibly call Stoeger when I called him today to inform him of this but that was about it from him. So I don't think I will be getting a discount or anything like that from him. I am not sure at this point if I am more mad at Beretta or Lock and Load. It seems like alot of people didn't know this about the CX4. Even Chris at P&D didn't realize that there are 2 models. I asked around and people seem to say good things about Lock and Load so I figured I could trust the business. This is my first time buying anything from Lock and Load and might be my (last?)
Wholesale sports wouldn't price match so they lost my business as well.
Has anyone dealt with Lock and Load? Is it an honest business? If so then I will direct all my anger at Beretta.

Windage: The SUPER OLD as in years ago CX4's didn't come with the top rails... all newer ones come with the picatinny rail (at least for the last 2-3 years).

Where did you buy it? Must have been super old inventory (or, they just forgot to include the rail)

Cheers~

I've heard the same from a few that bought it too.

There does not appear to be much in terms of consistency.

I got mine with the top rail only and the box it came it. My buddy got his about the same time, got no top rail, but all the front rails and the hard case too.

(G37) My post above yours did say where I bought it from.

I bought it from Lock and Load and apparently the gun has only been at the store for maybe a few months.

From what I know, There are two models, Both SHOULD come with a hard case. (soft case is optional)

One with the Triple Rail and One with No Rail. Non rail models are cheaper but not by alot, if i remeber its like $100-$120 less then a rail model.

So it depends on which model they have and you bought. I FEEL for you, but hmm, did you not examine the Cx4 BEFORE you paid for it? or was this an Online order?

Its the Same as an AR, ie: Bushmaster M4 varients EM2A2 and A3 One has a Rail top with removable Handle, other a Fixed Handle, similar price and basically same model number except the last couple of digits.

I doubt Beretta will do anything for you at this point, but goold luck in trying, Hopefullt it all works out for you :)

Good to know. He seemed like a guy I can trust. I just never dealt with him before so I was a little worried and Beretta makes it too inconsistant between the same products so it makes the person selling the product look suspicious. I bought the gun "as is" and thats fair. The parts that were there the first time when I saw the gun, were there when I picked it up so I am not accusing him of stealing. The gun was his until I bought it so the only person he would be stealing from is himself.
What concerns me the most out of all of this is not being informed about having to send it back to Ontario (Stoeger) and possibly wait 3 months for the rail to be put on, which means less shooting for me. Unfortunatley it seems like I am another customer that didn't do enough research. This is another buyer beware product.
On another note, I will be taking the gun out to the range tomorrow so I am anxious to see what it can do for me. I believe the gun itself is well designed and accurate so I don't think that part will be a disappointment.
:sniper:

I seen it in wholesale today when i was getting some 9mm ammo, don't know what the appeal is really. To each his own i suppose.

If it was me i would have taken the $900 waited until next pay check and got an AR.

Whatever, they should take it back and give you a new model, and I`m sure they knew about this issue and just wanted to get rid of old stock.

Windage,
I have been reading on the Beretta forums that Beretta has been very inconsistent on what shows up on these carbines. Now to throw even more confusion into them, some CX4's show up that can take 92F mags and others can be ordered to take PX4 Storm mags. Some members on the Beretta Forum have been installing these rails using a drill press or even a Dremel tool.

Here's a link:

It looks like you have to remove the barrel first so you can drill and put the nut in on the inside. I don't feel to confident in removing the barrel.

It took me five minutes, at most, to install the top rail. No need to tap, just drill a couple of holes in plastic. You don't have to remove the barrel, the top rail kit comes with a special tool that holds the nut.

This situation might not be so bad afterall. Now to locate a Top rail. I phoned around the city and no rails to be found anywhere. If anyone knows please PM me.

Thanks

buy one online, do a search for stores that carry it, thats your best bet.
plus they arent very expensive.

ive never bought anything from this guy ,.. but he has em

www DOT houtsenterprises.com/cx4.html
give him a try. let us know how it goes.

thanks for your post by the way , ive been thinking about getting a cx4 for a little while and i learned something new today.

Called Stoeger Canada today and they said they have them in stock and priced at $76 retail. I called the gun shop and they said they will order it for me. I am hoping the gunshop won't charge me that since they are only $46 in the states. I'll find out tomorrow. I know it's the states and there will be extra fees on top of that but i don't think it will come close to $76. Or maybe it will. I don't know for sure.
Oh by the way, Stoeger says that Beretta is no longer shipping Top rails, Slings and Bottom rails anymore with the CX4.

cheap bas tards

I bought the .40 a few months ago online. When you go to Beretta website and view the Storm it tells you what you get....supposedly. I had the same problem but I got everything but a case. I was told the same thing...Every shipment of cx4 are different. Some come with everything and some come with items missing all for the same price. Pretty crappy way of doing business but the gun rocks. I would think twice from ever buying another Beretta product now.
