I have a friend who, having poor command of the English language, has asked me to post on here a query.

Does anyone recall a Baretta pistol that comes with an interchangeable short and long barrel? I am totally confused as to what he is talking about but gather it is either a Baretta 9mm with a .22 converstion barrel kit.... or it is a Baretta 9mm with a long barrel for target shooting and a short barrel for carry purposes (keeping in mind that he was carrying outside of Canada where there were no length restrictions).

Interestingly, in his household, they were required to keep several firearms at the ready at all times - with kids around. I haven't entered the discussion yet, but suffice it to say that in three generations neither they nor anyone they know has ever had a firearm 'accident'. On the other hand, he can count specifically the number of times said firearms, being at the ready, were safely used to prevent crime of the most violent nature. Interesting.

Anyway... this is about Barettas.... anyone ever seen one with a "short and a long barrel"?

Thanks in advance.

did he say why he needs it?

well there is a .22 converion (slide and barrel) for the 92FS...

also Vertec and Elite models used to come with a 4.7in barrel where the regular one is 4.91in...

I think there might be IIRC a longer (ported?) 'compensator' barrel

The Combat Stock came with two barrels (or was it the Stock???). anyhow one was longer and had a barrel weight that everyone thought was a compensator. I think I can dig up pics of one actually.

My Beretta 70s .22 came with two barrels . Without going and unlocking the safe or looking at the reg. certs , one barrel is about 4 inches and the other about 6 .

Beretta 948 came with two barrels, one a 4 incher, the other a six. Verify the model and markings, if not put up the serial number, a lot can be deduced from that.

Another possibility, some what unlikely though. Many countries forbid the ownership of military calibres, so perhaps he's looking for barrels in 9mm Kurtz and 9x21?

Where is this, just curious? Recently, I found that in Eastern Europe (I think Poland) to suppress crime increase local government even relaxed the rules for law obeying citizens to purchase firearms.
