Berettas in Canada

You should be a veritable wealth of info....what it the 89 or 87T like? I'm thinking of getting one fairly good rimfire and sticking to it. Are they that much better than the Ruger for target shooting?

I have the 87T and it is a superb target pistol. Very accurate. My only gripe is the grip. It is well suited for smaller handed people, otherwise it takes some getting used to.

I also own a Ruger Mark II, and it is also a great target pistol. This one is more meat and potatoes, nothing fancy.

It pretty much comes down to aesthetics between the two. The Beretta 87 is a stunna, and the Ruger, is well a Ruger.

You dirty rotten....I had made my mind up on a Ruger and then you post this.:D As Someone who owns both....which one is more accurate? Which one is easier to shoot? Which one is more fun to shoot? If you could only have one, which would it be? Which is easier to clean?

I agree that the 87 has a pretty small grip (quite smaller than 92FS size grip), but the gun itself is actually heavier... the accuracy is not bad, but I think a 6in Ruger might be more accurate. To be honest I'd rather get the Neos if I wanted a Beretta .22

as for prices on the 92FS guns I'd say $900-950 for a regular in Bruniton finish and ~$1000 for an Inox

I was thinking of buying a Ruger Mark III, but eventually chose Beretta model 89. You just can’t compare the two guns – quality of workmanship is quite different. Sure, the end result depends on the gun quality. For me the forged Beretta is much better than stamped Ruger. I should also mention better trigger and heavy barrel of the Beretta. Actually, the two guns belong to different groups, and it is not fair to compare them. Ruger is designed mostly for plinking, while Beretta is an entry level target pistol.
But again, I like Beretta more then even S&W model 41, which belongs to the same group :)

if you didin't like Neos you probably won't like the Ruger any better...
I didn't like the slide release and wanted a 17hmr at the time so it went bye bye.

Ha ha! I'd definitely go for the Beretta if I was you. If you have smaller hands, than that is a bonus. The Beretta is much more accurate, plus, there are two accessory rails, if you wish to pimp it out later.

A disadvantage that the Beretta has to the Ruger is that there is more to dissassemble. The Beretta has a counterweight slide, which is a real motherhumper to remove, but after that, it is the same as any semi-auto.

The price difference: Beretta- $800-900
Ruger- $350-500

Whatever you choose, you'll still have a lot of fun. Cheers!
