Bergara BXR

So I purchased the Bergara BXR with steel barrel. The only scope I had that was unemployed at the moment is a Burris Signature HD 5-25x50 so that went on and I was able to sight it in at 40 yards with no problem and lots of adjustment left. I only used 4 shells to sight in and since it was a sunny day with hundreds of gophers on the snow I proceeded to put about 600 rounds through the new gun. I had one failure to feed with the factory supplied mag and several with some of my old 10/22 mags which have seen their better days. I was using Aguila Super Extra Hollow Point ammo and after about 3 or 400 rounds I started to get the odd dud.. that is to say click but no bang. By the time I finished up I was getting a fail to fire every 20 or 30 rounds. Think I'll give it a thorough cleaning and see how it performs next time.
 
The BXR does have a match chamber so will get feed or extract failures when it dirtys up. That doesn't account for the fail to fire unless maybe they were just dud rounds.
With my BXR I cleaned every 200 rounds to keep reliability.
For whatever reason I had better luck with clear 10/22 mags.

Yes, I believe the term or name for the match chamber is "Bentz chamber". I also have a Ruger 77/22 heavy barrel in 22 Lr and I've had no duds with it using this ammo so I dunno, maybe a different lot number. I suspect it has something to do with not getting cleaned for 600 rounds though.
 
Yeah that Vudoo looks like a good rig. I've been shooting my 77/22 for the last few years and I really like it, the longer heavy barrel makes for a really steady shooting platform and I've found that it isn't picky about ammo for the most part. I've been told that 77/22's can be good or bad in the accuracy department but I must have gotten a good one because a buddy of mine has the Bergara BMR bolt action and my 77/22 shoots as well as it does.

My 77/17 in 17 Hornet was a lemon, my 77/17 in 17mach2 was no better, until I installed a Green Mountain barrel.
 
Depends on how much elevation adjustment you have. I have a grey birch LDR with integrated 20moa rail with a Leupold freedom rimfire 3-9 on it. It has 60moa of elevation adjustment. When I take it grouse hunting I sight in for 25 yards. Eats up a lot of my elevation. With the 20moa rail and sighted in at 25 yards I have room to go but not much. Might work for a 30moa rail but I would be maxed out. I have read you lose optical quality when you’re maxed out any way with your scope. You will also lose windage adjustment. It is best to be optically center or you lose optical quality.

If my rail wasn’t integral I would swap it for a 0moa in a heartbeat

For the question you’re asking. As long as your scope has 60moa of elevation adjustment or better you SHOULD be ok. But you will likely be close to maxed out. But you would be better off with a 0 moa rail.
