Bought a .308 win Bergara premier canyon, has M5 aics pattern bottom metal but I think I would like to change to hinged floor plate (factory magazine rattles so bad it sounds like a turkey box call).
I see grayboe makes an m5 pattern hinged floor plate but does anyone know if factory Remington spring and follower work in the premier actions?
Thanks

I’ll update this for future reference.
Bergara got back to me and suggested Hawkins or Grayboe hinged bottom metal for the m5 inlet.
I found some spare Remington parts and the follower/spring works but the action has a Wyatt cut so the factory magazine box is short.
Easiest way is to order up a Wyatt follower/box/spring kit and either the grayboe or Hawkins bottom metal. Simple $400 hinged conversion…yikes!

iirc Howa is also Rem700 based to some extent?
wonder how close that bottom metal would fit?
lots of guys converting Howa/Vanguards to drop mags, should be able to find the hinged plate 4 cheap

I have a Bergara Stoke in 243 I got rid of hinged floorplate for AICS mags.

I have MDT bottom metal and mags. I’ll have to check for rattle.

Plastic or Metal mags?

Plastic Bergara magazine. Another pet peeve is that it sticks out about 1/4 to 3/8” instead of being flush.
Even with the mag loaded and bolt closed it still rattles.
May consider trying an mdt 3 round flush magazine. I only have mdt 10 rounders for some other rifles, I should try them in it and see if it rattles near as bad.
My dull brain will probably forget the magazines when hunting so prob best to go to faithful old hinged plate.

I have three of the MDT flush mags. One always stays in the rifle, one with the ammo, one in my hunting bag. I have proven that they function, and they are only used for hunting. Otherwise, I have 3 5 rounds and 2 10 rounds between 3 of my rifles.
I have gotten in the habit of having at least 2 magazines per cartridge, per rifle. I always try to leave one in the rifle, but make sure to have at least one with the ammonas well, that way I should always have one where I need it.

Do the mdt magazines rattle in your setup? What bottom metal? Thanks

Same here, always an mt mag in the rifle when road hunting, so easy just to drop in that first shot instead of into an empty mag well

I haven't noticed any rattle. Factory AICS Bergara and a couple different variants of MDT built in magwells, such as the Field Stock, LSS Gen 3 or ACC Gen 2. However, if the rattle is present,, either use a polymer mag or get some thin felt, such as what archers use on the drop away rests and line the inside of the mag well. Just make sure its thin.
Another possible solution would be to get some liquid electrical tape and coat the mag well or magazines. You could always shave it down after its been applied to give a nice snug fit. But I have never felt the need. The most noise that I find it makes is actually inserting, whether its the metal mags from MDT or the polymer mags from MDT or Bergara.
