Bergara

Wow.... no one has even looked at these new rifles?

They appear to be pretty good value for the money. Bergara is known as a barrel maker and have developed their action based on the Rem M-700, I've read that even the stocks will interchange with a Remington stock but don't take my word for it.

I've used a B14 hunter before and really liked it. As you say it is basically a Remington 700 but I felt the fit/finish was better. They are great value in my opinion.

I've read that the barrels are quite nice. They also offer a barrel nut Remage style barrel. Apparently Bergara barrels were developed with the help of Ed Shilen. Everything else is a Remington 700 clone. I would love to try one out if their Canadian dealer network was more developed.

There were excellent write-ups on Bergara's in 2 issues of Calibre - one on Euro bolt guns which included a Bergara "plain" hunting rifle, and one on the HMR.

The shop I was in had 3 of them, an HMR in 308, a wood stocked hunter in 7 mag and a synthetic stocked hunter in 30-06. I looked at all of them and they look pretty good to me. Apparently they already sold an HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor but they're hard to get.
The salesman said they have a MOA guarantee but I haven't read that anywhere yet.

I have a B14 HMR in 6.5CM, it is a decent rifle. Smooth action, nice consistent trigger, good fit/finish, good ergonomics on the stock, uses standard AICS mags which most guys like and being a Rem700 clone there is obvious great after market support. I have only shot it a couple times, so far it is proving to be an accurate rifle with Hornady American Gunner 140 HPBT ammo and I really like the stock, in fact the rifle has pretty much everything you need to hit the range and be set up for good success, only thing you need to add is a rail and optics, and maybe a brake if you want one.

Just bedded a 6.5cm B14 today. When the box was opened I didn't register it was the bergara that arrived and thought what a fantastic finish. They look much more quality than a remmy. I have had used bergara barrels on Howa's before and they shot very well. My 243 needed maybe 50 rounds before she started to group really well.
