Berger 168 in 7mm

Favorite load so far in my 7mm rem mag is 65 grains re22 and fed 215 primer (load data direct from berger). OAL is 3.460. Took half a box to find the right seating depth, but once i found it, WOW!! Best 3 shot group so far is 7/8" at 200 yards. Rifle is a bone stock rem 700 with 24" barrel.

Have you chronyed this load?

I tried a few with 69 gr of Retumbo, and am trying to find the proper seating depth. Using Bergers suggestion I found 40 thou back was in the ball park, now I need to refine that. Waiting for load from berger. I started with 69 grains as that seemed reasonable based on info from a few folks, and some data from the Hodgdon site.

If memory serves, it averaged just under 2900. Was going to do more testing but lost the chrony in a friends house fire a few months ago.

Fatboyz, if you need the 7mm load data, i printed the e-mail i received from berger so i can put it up if you list the powders you want to try

If you want to get those 168gr moving you should be trying RL 17
Look at speeds with 180gr in a win 284

CALIBER Previous
Max Vel Previous wind drift @ 1000 (10 mph) RL17
Max Vel RL17 wind drift @ 1000 (10 mph)
.284 Win, 180 Berger VLD 2840 fps, H4350 55.25" 3003 fps, RL17 50.42"

It the the best powder I have ever used in 3006
for speed and accuracy

Sundance.
You bet. I want to try Retumbo and RL22
Thanks.

For rl-22 start load is 62gr (approx start velocity 2832fps)
Max load is 65gr (velocity is 2984fps 96.2% fill ratio)

Retumbo start load is 66gr (approx 2839fps)
Max load is 70.4gr (approx 3022fps 104.7% fill ratio)

"NOTE!! Load data generated using quick load, a 26" barrel and COAL of 3.290.
Yours may be a little different."(Walt berger's words, not mine)

Not sure if they actually worked these loads up by hand or used computer software only, but thats what they sent me . Hope this helps, Sundance
Any other powder choices, let me know and i will post them for you.

Ummm...pardon?

Manitou I thought RL22 was more designed for the big mags like the 7, and RL17 for 270 and 30-06 and the like?

Thanks for the info Sundance. I can refine things out a bit now.
