berger 185 30 cal vld OAL question

holy hell, i put one into a case i just touched in neck die to check of OAL. touching rifling its 3.045, i an thinking of seating to 3.035, this is in a 700 VLS.
and i though my 178 amax's were long at 2.940.

anyone else using these with really long OALs?

The 'conventional wisdom' that VLD's need to be touching the riflings for best accuracy isn't necessarily true in every rifle. Some rifles shoot their best groups with the VLD's jumping up to 0.100" or more. If you're concerned about COAL with the bullet seated out to the riflings, I recommend trying some deeper seating depths in case your rifle is one of the many that performs best 'jumping' the bullets.
