Berger announces .338 300 Grain

I got 2 boxes of these in the mail today. Not sure what to think..............

Upon looking at the bullets in both boxes, there are lines in the copper coating from the pointy end to the shoulder. You can feel them with a thumb nail.

May not make a difference, but I know I need all the help I can get.

Does he have the exclusive? Get that todbartel guy to get you some. Then send me a box for testing purpose.:)

I will attempt 700 to 1000 yard gopher Burger.

We refer to these as 'lube lines', and are perfectly normal and even a necessary consequence of making bullets with our process and materials. If you look closely at any Berger bullet, you'll see the lube lines to some extent or another. Sometimes they look longer/deeper, but it's never been shown to have an adverse affect on the bullets flight. The fact that the .338 bullets are so big probably has something to do with making the lube lines more visible on them than on smaller caliber bullets.

Please share your results when you get a chance to shoot them.

Take care,
-Bryan

Looks like they are having problems now with the bullet. If pushed to fast they have "nose slump". Go to Bergers site and read the article. Kind of depresed now as I bought these to run through my 338 Lapua AI. Wonder what they are going to do for the customer now.

I've got a couple boxes on order. Luckily I will be shooting them out of a standard Lapua Magnum so as long as I don't try for speed records, I should be ok.

Hope they get a fix for it soon though. I do want a Lapua Improved!!!

johnny boy, maybe you could sell those new boxes to some of us "slower folk" here on CGN? ;)

PM me and we can talk.

Not possible. These are supposed to be the latest greatest handy dandy 338 bullets. The internet said it was so.

Ah well, I am thrilled with the performance of the 300 Gr Sierra SMK's. I will not change to Burger.
