I went to buy some of these in Regina today...$54 a box .223 cal...good lord are these things gold plated or what. I will pay that for a good hunting round but a paper puncher...holy crap is that pricey. Needless to say..I'm not shooting Bergers. Cant find Sierra SMK's so my 75 Amax's will have to do the trick for a while.

2015 Berger pricing is nuts. I am in the same boat with you but 6.5mm 140gr. 65$+ a box

If I was a competitive shooter and making money off a shoot I might buy em but they just priced themselves out of the recreational market, at least a big chunk of it. Hornady's are very reasonable still.

I am always tempted to try them when I see them in my LGS, but then I think about how many I will go through just to work up a load. Then I walk over to the hornady and sierra bullets and they are good enough for punching paper. I watched a guy but over $1000 worth of 30 cal and 7mm bergers last time I was in....must be nice.

Yep, those are crazy prices. I started with SMK's, but found that my gun shot better with VMAX's. (good thing!!) Also, my gun really likes Varget, but that stuff is gold plated ,too. I am working up loads with IMR 4895 and AMAX and I'm very close to happiness.

My .308 is being a little biotch, though. I fed her some Varget early in her life and now she's spoiled. I'm trying the same thing with 4895 and AMAX, but so far she just doesn't want to play nice. Oh well, fun trying different things.... C.
