First test with the VLD Hunting in a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight (post 2008 production) 270 Win. Thin barrels can be accurate too with the right load!
Should be spelled "Burger" due to explosive surface wounding on BG.Had bullet blowup at 600 + 500 yards respectively on cow elk out of a .300 RUM 168gr.Bullet fragments all over the inside and outside of carcasses.Bullet failure on WT shoulder at 200 yards.......didn't penetrate.I gave away the 1/2 box I had left over.In retrospect I should have thrown them away.Only use Scirocco's,Partitions or Accu-Bonds now. Hornady Interlocks were a good reliable bullet in the 80's-90's but i've had too many cup + core separations to use them on anything larger than deer.Had a 286gr 9.3x62 turn inside out on a cow moose shoulder knuckle at just under 200 yards and fail to penetrate.Velocity 2400fps.......sad performance.......glad it wasn't a grizzly at the muzzle......I have jars of recovered bullets to base my opinions on.Your mileage may vary..............Harold
Great bullets, accurate as heck! I hate them for the style of close up hunting I do. They didn't kill a doe I head shot at 40 yards. It was sad. I'll stick to a quality proven hunting bullet for animals but Bergers with the paper shooter is phenomenal!
