I have recently established a load for my 25-06.

I chose this bullet as it is on the heavy side for the caliber to retain accuracy at longer distances.I am aware of the frangibility of the projectile and that is my main concern.

It's main intention is to be used as a coyote/varmint rig however if an opportunity arises for a deer it may get used for the shot.

My question is what has the experience been for others with this bullet?

Has it been used successfully on your deer hunts or should it stay a varmint rig.

FYI, muzzle velocity of the load is 3150 with very positive results for accuracy.

A 115 gr Berger VLD is a big game bullet not varmint.Expensive to use on varmints when so many cheaper quality bullets are available.........JMO......Harold

Kelly,
Would you mind sharing what load you are using, what rifle, barrel length etc.
I'm using 115gr VLD's in my Sako, with 22" barrel, I'd have to check my records by I don't think I was getting those speeds. Just curious as to what you are using.

Here is the test load target with high winds.

100 yards.

3.285" COAL , 58.5 grains of H1000 , the velocities were 3156/3153/3148/3140 consecutively , 24" , no pressure signs easy extraction.

Original Vanguard with DM, Boyd's stock, and Zeiss 6.5-20x50

Thanks. I was thinking of trying H1000. After using it in my STW I noticed that the 260 remington had H1000 data, so I tried that with amazing results. I have been wanting to try it in the 25-06. I will load a ladder up and see what I can get out of it. With the little shorter barrel, I doubt I will see your speeds but worth a shot.

Shoot me a PM an I can send you my excel sheet of the H1000 and Retumbo results.
