Berreta,Springfield or Glock

If you're thinking about a new XDm I'd wait for the price to come down a bit.

I like to try different guns vs sticking to one brand like some people. If you want a well made reliable gun my vote goes to Beretta. I have 101% confidence in that gun!

don't listen to the guy above me, he's just wants to pee on your parade ;) don't be cheap, pull out that fat wallet and spend your money on a great gun!! yes yes, we all know glocks are gods gift to man kind, but they are soo dull and boring. just remember, we don't carry these guns concealed so we really shouldn't care if it's that dependable lol (right?). buy something of good quality, like others have stated, they're all good quality and they all shoot straight.

get something you think is ###y and that fits your ego, don't get a glock because the rest of the world says so, that's what i did and then i sold my glock.

i love barettas, especially the PX4's, but i just don't get along with that decocker/safety, doesn't work for me.

original poster, how much are you willing to spend? are you looking for ###iness and don't care about reliability? get a desert eagle, nickle or gold plated. or a 1911, i love 1911's, a true "mans" gun. steel is real as some would say ;) i love plastic, don't hate!

My Beretta is my favorite gun and the one I shoot the most often. And contrary to what another post stated I believe they are beautiful (as if that matters anyway...)

I would say also look into CZ's as well. Glocks are good but maybe wait till you have a few thousands rounds in other guns and work out your trigger skills before going on to them. I don't think Glocks have the best trigger to learn on.

bollox has a good point there... if you want to continue enjoying this fine "sport" (if you want to call it that), then try a 1911 as your first gun, or cz, they are much easier to shoot straight and you won't be disappointed when you see your hits on target.

glocks are by far the worst guns to start shooting with, you'll get very disappointed when you see how lousy they handle as a first gun.

Steel is real but plastic is fantastic...glock 17 hands down there cheap reliable as heck, theres everything imaginable to customize them when your ready, everybody ownes one and there are plenty of reasons, least amount of moving parts easy to strip and clean, no safties, hammers, decockers to worry about, just load and shoot and when/if you ever think of selling it there will be another person looking for one and it will be easy to sell.

Jump in head first, no matter what you decide it wont be your last handgun I guarantee....

plastic is fantastic LOL hahahahah oh my lord i never heard that one before! hope you don't mind if i use it :) i have a plastic hating friend, i'm going to use that one on him tonight.

for crying out loud, please go to a gun store and start fondling the different brands of firearms. my first pistola i ended up with a ruger p89 from ISG.

I hate these threads with a passion. There all good ones in the right persons hands. You have to try them out, and see what you like. A mistake is getting "told" what to buy. If your a member at a range already go on a night where there are lots of shooters out and ask them to try, supply your own ammo!!

ya, these threads are sucks. It looks like he's going for glock ;) ohhh the rude awakening!

good luck big-gun, i really hope you do take the "try first before you buy" advice.

thanks i just spewded coffee all over
a glock was not in my original plans :nest:
the thing is my friends only shoot long guns
not sidearms . as i said in earlier posts my
brother and brother inlaw both have
pistolas but there both very opinionated.
thanks to all who responded i have caressing,
stroking, fondeling to do

..... glock? Meh, its your gun... I totally agree with wolfstrack. And I am not biased.

Welcome to the wonderful world of handguns have fun regardless of what you buy first.

I own a XD 40. I love it but I shot the M&P in a 9 mm and loved the trigger faster reset than my XD. Buy a 9 mm ammo way cheaper and pistols are HUNGRY!!!!

I have a Sig P-226, 3 Colt 1911 (.45 and 9mm) S&W 1911 PD, Berretta 92 SB (fullsize) and a 96, Para Ordance and Inglis Hi Power. All are different in feel and function and I like all of them. The Berretta's are the easiest to take down for cleaning, the Sig is great for concealed carry competitons, the Colt's are just plain great to shoot, and the Inglis is a WWII collector from the Canadian Army that also is fun to shoot. So, try different ones, you will be suprised at what you will like. Asking a bunch of shooters what pistol to buy is going to get you all kinds of conflicting info.
