looking at these two beauties both in 9mm and ive heard lots about the Berretta, i like the fact that its a military pistol and carries some weight due to its all metal design, also though what does the A1 designation mean attached to these pistols??? The other info I'm looking for is the on the CZ SP-01 shadow. have heard virtually nothing about this one so info would be great. Preferences?

SP-01 is pretty much the gun that rules IPSC Production division due to the heavy full length dust cover and the fact that is comes with a nice F/O sight.

What are you intending to use the gun for?

Beretta is not all metal, frame is alloy. The Shadow is all metal and the weight difference is readily apparent when you handle both. The A1 designation for the 92 means rail - an option that is unavailable with the Shadow. Have both, shoot the Shadow a bit better but a 92 in stainless (Inox) is simply ###y.

You have good taste.

If you plan to stay with shooting sports, you will have both.

There's scads of threads about the Shadow here at CGN. The key to finding them is using the Search function. The trick is to switch the default of "last week" and "and newer" to "and older". Then you'll find lots to read.

I have the Beretta 92fs and love the way it looks and performs!

I shoot the shadow better. But the beretta is just ###y.

I caved and now have both.

Ps. The shadow comes with an accessory rail by default. The 92 comes in an A1 version for the rail. The A1 comes with a couple of internal differences and a rounded trigger guard.

Shadow is just too heavy for my liking, its only a 9mm so i have no need for extra weight. Beretta and regular 75 feel much better.

aluminum is a metal. it's not a steel frame, but it's still an all-metal gun. Though when people say all-metal gun they usually refer to all steel.

I think the CZ 75 is more ergonomic to a lot of people due to the Beretta's huge size, but the Beretta is smooth as hell and just as reliable, if not moreso!

I love the looks of my 92FS but it the grip feels quite large compared to any of the CZ's

Inox models sure look ###y!

I have both and yes 92 has a larger grip, but it fills my average size hands nicely and is pretty comfortable. As for reliability I can say that Beretta is a bit more reliable.

Wholly writing on that 92fs! Beretta must be a new subsidiary of Ruger (kidding).

In all seriousness, I too find the Shadow a bit front heavy with that big solid rail and dust cover. So I use a CZ 75B matte stainless for Production, and I don't think I've ever had a malfunction that wasn't the fault of the reloader (err me). And I've put at least 60,000 rounds through it. I of course change out the springs and stuff, but it's done me good.

My 4'11" 92 pound wife on the other hand loves her Shadow for Production. Go figure!

Hey brother, looks like you are not research hard enough, the CZ shadow become the star of 9mm as soon as CZ launched the gun into the market several years ago. They are both 9mm gun of choice regardless what you want to do with the them. IMO CZ and Beretta made the best firearms for the money. Buy them both.

Thanks yall, i gotta learn to search better but im fresh at this game! either way ima just say screw it and buy both but probably the berretta first since ive wanted one since i started shooting. but the CZ looks amazing also so maybe ill just flip a coin.

Ther Beretta seems big at first but the trigger sits back comfortably once the slide is racked and all is good.

My Beretta 90-two is one slick gun, but the trigger is not all that great and the accuracy (or at least my accuracy) is no better than my Norinco.

I just tbought an SP-01 Shadow, very, very excited. If you want' I'm selling ym Beretta on the EE.

I've got both the Beretta FS A1 and a Shadow. The beretta is the ###ier looking of the two, but I shoot the Shadow much better. The Shadow grips are much better, and I really like the FO front sight. Best to handle (or shoot) both before you decide.

FYI, Epps just got about 30 Berettas (FS's, AI's & Inox) into stock at great prices.
CRAFM is great for buying the Shadow, and has a tu-tone version as well (kinda the Inox of the Shadow world).
