Hey guys,
Just got a 1000 of these and I was gonna try and find a cheap .308 plonking load for my RFB.

Anyone have an experiences or tips when using these bullets? Also what is a good powder to use? I was told look for cast load data and do not exceed 1700fps.

Thanks,
Adam

I was using 10 grains of Unique I believe.

If you do a google search it is quite popular for lead plinking loads.

Of course you can play around with the load and see what works for you but I remember it being pretty accurate.

I shoot a lot of cast from my 308. Most are 150 and 165 grain but I also shoot Hornady .310 round ball from it for partridge. For powder I use Trail Boss. Cheap to buy, meters well, can't get enough in he case to cause any problems and fills the case nicely. Hornady instructions, fill to base of where you bullet will sit, weigh, take 70% and work up or down to get the velocity and accuracy you want.

If loading with unique...Berry's bullets state not to go above 1,700 fps...which with a cast and Lyman's Manual #4 would be 12.8.

Cut it back to 12.0 and see what happens. There are other powders too, but I like Unique as well.

I don't think cast bullets at under 1700fps will cycle a semi auto. I have no experience with an RFB but in my Norc M305 I need to run cast 185gr bullets at least at 2200fps before it cycles reliably. At that muzzle velocity you need gas checks.
