Recently got some Bertram Brass in 33 Winchester for my 1886 Winchester. Age of this brass is unknown. I've heard that Bertram brass has some issues with case necks splitting.

Would it be reasonable to anneal the case necks prior to reloading as a measure to prevent or reduce the likelihood of case neck splitting?

Thanks for your replies,

Don't know why you bothered with this expensive brass...just run 45/70 cases into you .33 Win Die and Bobs your uncle.

Annealing your brass....

I would anneal the necks for sure. What do you have to lose...and everything to gain. If you do decide to reform the 45-70 brass as suggested then anneal it first before reforming. Dave
