I know squat about Carcanos. Some websites have very confusing info too (confusing to me anyways). I turn to you guess to help me identify these. CAUTION: These are rough looking, rusty, and have seen better days, The images my not be worth the time it took to load on your screen. :)

First one seems okay. 91 or 41 ???

There you have it. All three in the state I received them. A fair bit of the metal is pretty brown, and other than the first one, the furniture is pretty banged up.

I'm scared to look at the bores. ;)

Some people might refer to these as Tomato stakes.

You got it all wrong, they are not "rusty" or "beat up". No, they are nicely "antiqued" with "generous patina". If you want to be rid of any of them, let me know first!

That M38 is especially cute...

they wern't dropped they were just discarded to speed up the retreat:D

I'll take the 2nd one and by the way I have 6.5 Carcano dies.

ps I also have a set of double triggers for one.

I own a little short carbine in 7.35. Wow! Talk about muzzle blast! I've always said that it is no wonder the poor Italians gave up early! I also have a 6.5 rifle, but haven't fired it - yet.

That M38 may also be in 7.92x57, there were several made up for Germany towards the latter part of WW2. It seems that most were issued at the end of the war to the peoples army. There are at least 3 different calibre variants that I've seen. Most of these have seen a lot of use and were actually quite popular. They are also stronger than is usually thought, as per P.O. Ackleys' tests. If the bores are good. they usually shoot quite well with the original 160 grn bullet of the correct diameter in the 6.5. bearhunter
