So I own a couple of 10/22's.. Now finding magazines that don't double feed, or feed correctly are a different story.
When I am plinking with bulk pack ammo, I expect to have a couple of fails.. and it seems that my Rugers have the least amount of problems with CCI minimags.
First I will say my Ruger 10 round rotary mags are the best.
but I'm having more than I am comfortable with the Butler creek steel lips, plastic lips, and the Tactical innovations plastic lips.
I have a Black dog machine 50 round drum mag, and I love it.. Plastic lips and it feeds awesome!
I mean it's pretty crazy when I shoot 100 rounds from my other magazines and I get 2-3 fails per mag 4 mags /25 to a mag (8-12 fails) and I take a 50 round drum and it doesn't fail or fails once.. 50 round mag/100 rounds (1-2 fails)

So now I'm in the market to buy some more mags.. First I have to find them.... But I was wondering if you guys could throw in your 2 cents.
Which mags do you think are the best?
Thanks!

Oh also.. My friend is getting light primer strikes using his Remington 597 and his mags are crap... more 2 cents pls!! :)

I have 4 BC steel lips and never had any issues and I ran 700rd thru them.

Mixed between CCI Blazer 40grn RN ammo and M22.. I got maybe 3 Jams.

Depends on your gun. I'm getting well up over 7500 rounds through my 9" 10-22 build and in stock format the BC steel lips worked fine. They function around 90% with my modded gun. My Tactical Innovation TI-25 mags have been perfect once they're properly setup.

No two guns are the same. Trial and error may be needed to find what mag works best in YOUR gun.

the only mags that work in a Ruger 10/22 are factory rotary mags......everything else is a crap shoot with the odds against you

you can buy 10 mags and 3 of them might work, you might be able to modify some of them with tape, screws, zip ties, JB weld, and filing to make them work

I bought 4 BC Steel Lips and all 4 work, so must be junk. Each where subject to 175 rds. Each were loaded up 7 times.

I have 2 of the GSG 110 round drum mags that at most cause 1 or 2 stovepipes in a mag dump, but usually no problems at all. That's in a bone stock plain jane carbine.

I am not very happy with the battledyne 3 pack I bought. It is very sticky feeding rounds, and about 5 or 6 rounds per mag they feed half way then jam and the bolt puts a serious dent in the case. I'm scared I'm going to have one go off on me one of these days.

Butler Creek steel lips 25 rounders are great. I have the cheapest 10/22 you can buy, I think I paid $235 plus taxes brand new. I've fired well over 10,000 rounds (probably pushing 20K, no joke) through it with only 2 Butler Creek Steel Lips mags and had very little trouble. I've also only cleaned the rifle maybe 3 times lol, and never really cleaned the mags. I fire Federal Champion Value Pack 22LR exclusively. Having the Butler Mag Loader is key. How else do you think I managed to put that amount of rounds down range without wearing my fingers to nubs.
I have a friend that has done nearly the exact same thing with his 10/22. Butler Creek Steel Lips all the way.

my 10/22 wouldnt feed anything but the factory mags. so yeah factory LOL

That seems pretty strange. I'm using a bottom of the line 10/22 with ammo thats fairly average and have not had many problems at all.
What model 10/22 do you have? I could see a higher grade "match" style rifle being more finicky.
I bought mine because they are the go-to .22 with excellent reliability, cheap to buy, cheap to feed, and had cheap aftermarket hi-cap mags. But most of all they worked!

Bottom line 10-22 was told it was the best semi auto for the price. Had nothing but issues. Been thro every fix there is. It was a factory dud so I sold it. Every ammo every mag, the only mag that would feed flawlessly was the one it came with. Ill never buy another 1022 ever again.

Thats really ####ty, sorry to hear that. I suppose it does happen though, its just too bad it ruined your fun with the 10/22. I love my big boy guns, but I can't get over how much fun and cheap it is to take a big peanut butter jar full of .22 out into the woods and just endlessly plink away at whatever you fancy.

sounds like the one I got. mine's a takedown model that's been a jamomatic from day one. I think I got a lemon

it's getting repaired in Quebec right now but I don't have much confidence in Snap Shots, or Ruger, or 10/22's any more.

Ruger refused to replace the gun or give a refund. the gun blew up firing out of battery, it was shooting double shots with one trigger pull, double feeds, stovepipes, bent bullets, shaved lead, jams with every type of magazine, you name it

you can read all the problems with Snap Shots and Ruger from my other posts. I think this will be the last Ruger product I ever buy.

the only thing I can say about Ruger is they're cheap......that's about it

I had to whine and ##### to get Ruger to get Snap Shots to finally start fixing my 10/22 after more than 3 weeks. Snap Shots does not reply to emails at all.
