Hi there,

So the 1911 .45acp itch is affecting me right now...
The Marstar Norinco 1911's single stacks are appealing because of the price. However, having handled & shot a friend's Norc NZ-85b, I've found that these guns have acceptable accuracy & reliability, but crude finish. Since I'm ready to invest between 700$-1400$ in my "1911 dream gun" , I'd rather take the time to gather my cash and get exactly what I want. The applications for this gun would be: PPC distinguished pistol matches, probably IPSC standard (gotta get my black badge first !).

So here's my wish list:
- 5" gov. profile, .45acp
- Single stack
- stainless steel for both lower & upper
- classic looks (no rails or funky finishes)
- match barrel/bushing
- adjustable sights (would prefer plain black sights, no fiber optic/tritium)
- plenty of checkering and extended controls

Here's what I'm looking at:
- Springfield Trophy Match (but it's a bit over my wallet)
- Springfield Loaded Stainless Target (P19132LP)
- Kimber Stainless Gold Match II
- Para-Ordnance PXT Limited single stack (SX745S)
- Smith & Wesson SW1911 stainless target (108284)
- Update ! : Dan Wesson Pointman Seven

Wow he asked for the best and theres noo one in agreeance. D00d I hear STI maked some better 1911 types and is pretty popular in the IDPA circle of things. There is no such thing as a best 1911 since there is probably over 100 diffrent clones of them. The cost of a 1911 is high and the cost to feed it is also high. Nevermind the extra work your gonna need on it to get it to run right or if it does out of the box (which is highly unlikely) the cost to keep it in top shape over the use you mentioned.

Get your black badge first - then decide what type of pistol/class you will want to shoot. Speak to other competitors about their choices and try as many as you can.
The ones that you have listed will take you out of production class...something to consider

Thanks for the tip, however, i'm really more into PPC. If I go into ipsc, it'll be just one, two, maybe three matches per year. I already have a Tanfoglio 9mm (TA90) that i can use for production. On my whish list, there's also either a CZ SP01 or G17 3rd gen (for PPC duty pistol and IPSC prod.).

For the 1911, it's simple; i want a stainless single stack with out-of-box garanteed accuracy of 3" at 50yrds... and yes, i can exploit this accuracy potential (i'm a PPC "master"; been shooting competitively for 8 years).

BTW, I have press and will certainly reload my .45acp.

Incredible how's there no consensus... are they all of equal quality ?
I should probably have asked: "what to AVOID, when buying a 700-1400$ 1911 ?"

Heres some pictures to entertain the thread

Colt's![/U]

Hello Walter...

Humm, Colt Gold Cup... I was told they're overpriced for what they offer.
And that they need some tuning & add-on parts before squeezing out maximum accuracy/reliability.
This is why it wasn't included in my wish list.

Anybody wanna share some experience on recent factory Gold Cup ?
