Was previously looking at the Springfield Armory GI but my focus has been shifted to the Para Ordnace GI. And everything I've read online review wise suggest it performs just as well as the more expensive 1911's out there.

Really? What is it about an STI Spartan that makes it "not even a real 1911" in you opinion?

Get an Armco Norc. It'll shoot as well, and probably have a better trigger. If you're worred about brand-obsessed snobs at the range, have Gunnar sterilize the slide and put some wood grips on it.

I tried a Spartan, but was dissappointed. I traded up to a Ranger 2, and wasn't much happier. Nothing I couldn't live with, but not up to Colt standards.

I'd look really hard at used Colts. Some of them have really low mileage. Armco seems to have some nice used inventory. I saw a brand new Colt for around a grand, in Calgary.

Why not go for it, and order a Delta Elite? I have an original, and it's still the ultimate 1911. Just be sure to install the heavy duty suspension.

The RZ 45 is a current production model for 2010; but yes, like all DW 1911's they are made in limited numbers as DW concentrated on quality over quantity. That being said, the RZ is their entry level gun and is made in larger numbers than the other models.

On top of that, you really don't see too many DW's in Canada as they sell pretty quickly in the US. But if you call Walt at Arms East I'm sure he can order one in for you if you're serious about it.
