Best 22 cal pistol

What kind of shooting are you intending to do?
You need to give us a price point. There's lots of GREAT .22's that cost upwards of $800. One of them, the Kadet, has already been mentioned. And if you don't mind the bill you could do MUCH worse than to get a S&W Model 41.
Of the more approachable price point guns the S&W 22A is low in cost and is a great gun. The next rung up the ladder gets you to the Ruger Mk III based guns and the Browning Buckmark series. And mixed in with the fancier versions of these last two is the GSG 1911-22.
You won't go wrong with any of these. They all work well.

ive got a bunch of 22 pistols.
whenever anyone asks me which 22 is good to start with i tell them a Browning Buckmark.
but get the one with the URX grips and the fiber optic sites.
but if your already into pistol shooting and have a 9 or 45 id say go with something that lends to what your shooting in the full size.
example.
i shoot a S&W M&P a lot.
so i have picked up the M&P 22.
also i shoot a lot of 1911.
so ive picked up the GSG 1911-22.
so you can train with the same frame but on the cheap.
now, saying all that im not hating on Ruger.
i have them all and they are all great to shoot, but if your new to pistols and 22 then i say go with the browning.
solid built, has some nice weight to it so it has no movement at all when you shoot it, quaility made fit and finish.
plus you dont have to do anything to it right out of the box.
i picked up a ruger 22/45 lite and i had to upgrade the grips to some hogue's, then i had to pick up some fiber optic front sites for it, then a compensator (cause its threaded so ya have to put something fun onto it) so for the base gun your into it for the same as the buckmark, then ADD on all this other stuff to get ya at the same gun.
if i had to pick out of all mine which one to keep, if i could only have one, it would be the browning, followed close by the GSG 1911-22 - its a surprisingly fun gun to shoot.

Had a colt 1911 Gold Cup, was a great gun, never any failures.
With that said i did sell it, now that im shhoting 9mm, 45acp, 50DE, 223 & 12 gauge i got bored from the deuce deuce, i want .410, 454 cassul & 45LC next Magnum Raging Judge.

Then I got interested. Have bought 2 rugers since, Mark III target and a new model single 6 in .22lr/.22wmr. They are fine pistols and both are pleasing to shoot.
The model 41 gets the most action. It is very accurate. Easy to clean and hard to ruin. But it can be ruined so be careful if you buy used.
Now I'm out 3 - 4 times a week just shooting pistols. It became that much fun once I could properly do it.
If you're like most of us, experience will be your guide. You'll gravitate to the one you shoot best.

Smith model 41 then Buckmark for me.. Smith gets more action ...
I'm down to 2 rimfire "pistols" now. A Sig1911-22 and a stainless Ruger Bearcat.
My son son really enjoys shooting the Sig. After ~200-250rnds of cheap shooting .22lr he's ready for my center fires.
Personally, I prefer to shoot the Bearcat. It's a nice little well made piece of hardware and you gotta love the "click"ng sounds!

Thanks. I don't do a lot of pistol shooting. I have a S&W 44 and and S&W M&P 9mm. I just want something a little smaller to play with. I was looking at the sig mosquito but I hear it can have some miss firing issues. I would spend up to $1000 on one. Which would be better the CZ kadet or the S&W M&P.

Ruger does the same thing with there mark 3, if you want something that feels like a real handgun then there are some very nice .22lr in all your fav's like the 1911, most SIG models and pretty much anything thing you can think of.
I personally have a Browning Medalist, which is the predecessor (2 generations removed) of the buckmark. this thing has a full weight system and will probably shoot better than i can for a very long time. it has a target grip which is nice but it won't holster.

Recently picked up one of the same,
in addition to three 'friends'/associates I couldn't turn down.
A handy aspect or feature of the Medalist is the dry fire ability.

A very nice piece, if parts are available, I would not mind one..
