Best .22 LR Ammo?

For gophers, fed bulk blue box perform poorly. The HP seems to be to small. Also, they don't feed well with my steel lips mags.

For gophers, Win333 perform very well in the 4 areas: low price, good accuracy to 100yds, good expansion and no feeding issues.

Going up in price from there, rem subsonics are a little more accurate and yet don't seem to give up much range to HV in the field. CCI velocitor is also very accurate for me and hits very hard.

You may notice that dynapoints or other truncated or semi truncated bullets don't feed well in a semi, or that when they do, a little piece of the bullet gets shaved off when entering the chamber.

Federal and winchester bulk pack stuff is great if you don't mind the odd ftf or stovepipe. Best money i think would be on CCI blazers (wither boxed or in bulk). I've never had a ftf of fte with any cci product, and the blazers are priced well. As it has been said already, mini mags are great also if you like the copper plated stuff over waxed lead. Stingers shoot well in all of my .22s, but they're a little more expensive (7.99 for 50).

I like very much SK Standard Plus and Eley Red & Black for pure accuracy, but IMO these would be very expensive for gopher shooting.
Winchester Power Point 40 grain, pretty darn accurate in my 10/22 with a decent hollow point. (X22LRPP)
IIRC this ammo, was at first designed/made for Aussie hare hunters back in the day.

Win Power Point is a step up from most bulk ammo, very nice hollow points. If you fellas don't care for the small HP's in cheap ammo you can buy a tool kit to enlarge the HP called a Paco Tool. I have had one for a few tears now and modified a lot of 22 ammo. FS

This is the same results I have found. My guns like the federal bulk ammo and it is pretty accurate, feeds well, very cheap, but the tiny hollow point doesn't expand worth a darn on gophers. Even gophers deserve a clean kill.

The Winchester bulk pack (EXpert HV) are my favourite for gophers but they do have more "fail-to-fire" than other brands. That gets really annoying in a semi auto, but less of a problem with other action types.

I have seen the Paco Tool on the interwebs and on RFC but it seems like a fair bit of work since when I go .22LR shooting its usually high volume. Maybe since I sold most of my high cap 10/22 magazines and speed loader on the EE, it would make more sense.

I have a cheap Remington 597 with factory scope. I will never buy Remington thundercrap ammo again. The winchester 333 555 packs are slightly better 3 inch 10 shot groups at 50 yards Blazers or CCI minimags bring me down to 1 1/2 inch 10 shot group at 50 yards and Lapua bring me down to 3/4 to 1 inch 10 shot group at 50 yards.
