Best .22 LR pistol?

OP, you asked for the best ? I had and shot many and if you want the cadillac, spend the $$ and get a Smith 41. More expensive but the trigger, sights, overall quality, accuracy and ergonomics are worth it. Don't get me wrong, Rugers are great pistols but not in the same league.

Can't argue with that but the new 41's are in the stratosphere now and if he has to justify it to his wife and not just for himself she will probably balk at the price and the new 41's are on the heavier side than the Buckmarks who shoot almost as well (Almost)

I enjoy both the Smith & Wesson model 41 (left), and the Ruger MKIII (right). They are accurate and reliable.

x3 for the 41.

Of course if you want to spend SILLY money there's also Pardini....

I have a buckmark UDX ,ruger mk III and gsg 1911.
My wife shoots all 3 well but prefers the buckmark and ruger over the gsg.

Out of the box the buckmark is easily the best, great factory trigger and eats everything, great fibre optic sights
The ruger needs a trigger job, i put in an aftermarket trigger, bushing and got rid of the loaded chamber indicator and mag safety, shoots very well now. Added fibre optic front sight and am well beyond the cost of the buckmark for similar performance

The gsg......well it chokes every other mag even with a 100 upgrade kit....needed to buy new front sight after installing the kit, barrel bushing pushes it out of the range of the factory sights....still the worst of the bunch for accuracy and stopages.

The gsg does, however, brings a big grin to my face when shooting it despite it's above mentioned short comings.......

I like the Old Ruger Mark 2 . I can take one apart and put it back together without any problems. you tube is an excellent site to learn how to take the Ruger Mark 2 apart and reassemble . they are very accurate and reliable.

I’m a revolver guy. Nothing beats a well tuned S&W Model 17! Excellent trigger and you’ll never have a FTF or Stovepipe! If you must have a semiauto, go for the Ruger MkI/II/III/IV. The new Mk IV is easy to field strip and clean and they all eat any ammo. If budget is not an issue, the S&W Model 41 will be a purchase/investment for life. Then again...guns are like potato chips....can’t have just one, so get them all and shoot the snot out of them!

Walther GSP

High Standard Victor
High Standard 10X
Smith and Wesson Model 41

They're all going to be expensive.
Better bang for the buck, a Ruger bull-barrel Mk(whatever's current) will still shoot better than most humans can hold it, but OP asked for the best - to my knowledge, the "match grade" pistols from Walther, Steyr, Hammerli, and Pardini will take the cake.
The GSP has a modular two-stage trigger and an interchangeable upper that can swap between .22LR and .32S&W Long...

I have a buckmark camper. Ergonomics are good and the trigger is excellent but I would recommend the higher end models with better sights,

Single six is great. Slows things down and it eats every ammo I've ever fed it from expensive to bucket o bullets lol.

My persona fav is my M&P 22 pistol. It's just a joy and it is a very accurate German made semi.
