Best .22 LR pistol?

i dont want to count how many 22 pistols i have but its over a dozen.
Buckmark is hands down the best for money for what you get. (build quality/accuracy)

every person ive let shoot my buckmark has ended up buying one for themselves, if that tells you anything about them.

they are just super good pistols.

I picked up a really nice shape stainless bull barrel Ruger 22/45 Mark II from Wanstalls in one of their recent used pistol blowouts and after a good cleaning I'm loving it a really nice shooter, the only upgrade I plan for it is a HiViz fibre optic front sight. Very accurate, well balanced and a ton of fun to shoot. I do agree take down is a pain in the ass but if you print out the original instructions its not that hard to do. I also have an upgraded GSG 1911 that is really fun to shoot as well but the Ruger is way more accurate.

I usually find a good Youtube video on take downs for all my guns and store the link, I have a desktop near my bench so I can rewind and review it when needed.

That works well too except I always seem to have oily fingers when putting guns back together so I find it easiest just to print step by step papers out that I can replace when they get too ratty.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. The ones over $1000 are out for now. I kind of want to retire some day.

I'm between the Ruger MKIV and the Buckmark. But there are so many models of each that it's really confusing.

The top of the line Buckmark with finger groove grip and fiber optic site would be what I'd buy again

Tenda has the Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Tactical on sale for $570 right now. That's the best price I've seen so I bought one a couple of weeks ago. Still waiting on the transfer though, so I can't tell you how it shoots.
Removable rails top and bottom. Threaded muzzle. Grip angle similar to a 1911 rather than the steeper angle of the non-22/45 models. Ambi safety can be removed from the right side in case it interferes with your shooting hand.

Can those rails be removed? I hate rails, and so does my girl. The threaded barrel, however, is nice, as I can attach something "tacticool" for her.

Yes. Both the top and bottom rails can be removed. I don't know if Ruger provides plugs for the holes though.

P&D Ent., a sponsor at the top, has some good prices on Rugers and Buckmarks. They are great to deal with. They will send you pics of what you are interested in.

The Beretta Mod 71's are pretty nice for small hands and good eyes..... :) It's a classic older .22lr for sure and extremely reliable which is always important for semi's. They were/are a great deal in the $300-$400 range.

The older Ruger's are not that hard to takedown but if your shopping new then the new model is an improvement for sure.
The new model 22/45 lite looks pretty nice.

Actually, you don't need small hands for a B 71, due to the magazine extension at the bottom of the grip. I also shoot a Beratta 96A1 and an S&W N-frame 357 Magnum. All are great fun to shoot.
My Ruger 22/45 seems quite bulky after a session with the B 71, but all of them are accurate, reliable and easy to shoot. I did add a Dlask muzzle brake to the end of the Ruger 22/45, which much improved the balance.

A handgun you will have forever...the Ruger Mark IV series...what a pistol...anything from the tactical, target, competition and I just bought the Hunter model in stainless steel from Bullseye in London. Great looking, now easy to clean and very accurate. Browning Buckmark would be my second choice. I find with anything in life, you get what you pay for. Don’t go cheap. I shot a S&W and it felt like I had a plastic cap gun in my hand.
Goog luck...

My fav pistols so far have been the Ruger 22/45 Lite and the Browning 1911-22, with the Browning being my most favored...fit's my smaller hands best.

but if you've got big hands, the Mark IV (I found the Mark III much too big) or perhaps even the Magtek PMR-30, which is .22WMR. I really want to try one as the muzzle flash on it is supposed to be spectacular! :)
