So I've decided that I'm gonna go for a revolver. I've narrowed it to...
S&W (17, 617 or K22)
Ruger (sp101, single 10,etc)
Taurus 992 .22lr/.22wmr
Any more thoughts?
Youre sure ?

Ruger Mk III - got into resticteds last spring and it was my first pistol - after about 1200 rounds I decided I would do the teardown and clean more as a challenge to myself than a need - it was really not that bad - I also have a smith 17-4 now and it is the smoothest trigger I have ever handled - but I still go back the the MK III every time.

Pretty sure. I've owned a Sig mosquito (crud), Ruger 22/45 (best of those I've owned), Sig 1911-22 (Ok), AMT Automag 2 (finicky), a PLR-22 (ok but huge). Most were choosy about ammo at some point. In my experience good revolvers are more reliable and more accurate. The only thing you give up is reload speed. With plinking I'm not in a hurry. Not 100% yet but getting close.
I don't have much experience with 22LR revolvers but the Ruger SP101 I have experienced had quite a heavy trigger pull in double action.
Whereas the Ruger MKIII has one of the lightest triggers on a factory handgun.
Then you should have started with: I pretty much didn't like any 22LR handgun I had. Are there any other?![]()
I have owned the following:
Ruger MKIII Hunter
Ruger MKII Target
MKIII 22/45
Sig Mosquito
Walther P22
CZ Kadet
S&W MP22
G17 Advantage Arms Kit
Norinco M93
H&R 9 Shot revolver
and finally a Ruger SP101
Of all of these the only one I have kept is the Ruger SP101, and the ones I regret selling are the CZ Kadet and S&W MP22.
Truth be told the CZ Kadet is way overpriced, and the S&W MP 22 is a hell of a gun that in my testing was every bit as reliable as the CZ. The CZ was definitely more accurate though.
So in the end my vote for a revolver is the SP101, and for a semi would be either the CZ or the M&P 22.
I wanted unbiased opinions from you good folks, left it wide open. I posted a thread awhile ago about 9mm's and I mentioned I didn't like certain ones. The thread was clogged with people telling me my opinions on the ones I disliked were wrong.
