I am looking for a .22 caliber pistol for my first hangun. I am wanting to spend no more than 400 dollars. What is the best gun I can get with that money?

Thanks, Josh

Are looking for a revolver or a semi?

In the revolver department, the S&W K22 is the gun to beat... Every so often you'll see a Colt target... or if you are into cowboy stuff, you could find a Ruger Single-six.

In the seme department:
A used Ruger MK1 or MK2 could easily be found for that money, they will shot witht the best of them and parts/accessories are easy to find.

My very first pistol was a MCM Margolin similar to this one;

:D

Before spending any $$ on a new pistol, I would visit your local club and see what other shooters are using. In most cases, if you ask politely, they will be more then happy to let you try out their gun. This way you can see what feels best in your hand.

Mike.

Thing is with the rugers, I really dont like the damn safeties. I took my firearms course with one of those and I just can't seem to be able to hold the slide back while trying to work that safety. Almost failed the course cuz of that gun:p. Guess its just not the gun for me. I was at Gobles' this past weekend and was playing with a semi auto .22 S&W it was under $400. Anyone have anything to say about these? O yea and I am looking for a semi.

Thanks,
Josh

You should be able to find a good used Buckmark in that price range too.

The Buckmark safety, mag release and slide lock are very easy to use.

Get one and you'll probably never sell it even if you move on to a bigger caliber handgun.
