Best 270 for $650

I like my XL7 .270. It's the most accurate rifle I own. It's a way better shot than me. LoL. No more excuses! It cost about $650.00 with a 3200 scope on it and sling. I don't love the plastic though.

I'd get on the Tradex site and see what was available there. Used quality trumps new junk. I'd also stay flexible in my choice of cartridge as there is little "practical" difference between a .270 and a 6.5X55 or between a .270 and a .30/06 when each is used on a moose.

i'd have him handle a few to see what he like's. i've owned quite a few different make's and models, they are all pretty good nowaday's. some just feel better than others to different people. but not the 770.

Since when is a sps (super piece sxxt) better than savage,browning, or tikka, might as well suggest a 770.

Since when are they worse? They receiver/bolt is no different then any other M700, completely different then the 770

Super Piece of ####? Its a Model 700 with just as ####ty of a stock as any of the other companies synthetics and it's only 640$ compared to Browning X/A-Bolts or T3's....

I have handled a few sps rifles, 2 of them had problems with the finish on the barrels, one had the bolt snap off after less than a box of shells (14 rounds to be exact) yet another which would not do better than 2'' groups at 100 no matter who shot the rifle, 5 different people tried this rifle with 3 types of ammo. All of these rifles the magazine rattled like a tin can dragged behind a car. So from what i have seen of the sps rifles they are (super pieces of sxxt).

marlin xl7, weatherby vanguard. I have tried both of these in 25-06 and 270 respectively at the range and very impressed. Not very pretty but shoot well with cheap factory ammo. TC venture has very good reviews but have not handled one myself

It's not in the same league as higher priced 700's. Tooling marks galore on the ones I looked at.
