Putting a scope on the mosin, will be using the 3/8th dovetail below the rear sight. Suggestions on some strong rings/base?

I used it successfully a few years ago. It was a tad longer than the dovetail bit that doesn't matter. Just centre it and clamp it down tight.

Will it hold tight enough with 2 screws is my only concern. The dovetail isn't long enough for all 3 to be used.

This is the same one I used.....just center it and use all 3. I will warn you, this is a delicate procedure getting this to be rock solid. You will most likely need to cross pin it and possibly even drill/tap the dovetail itself

I feel like an idiot now.

When putting my newly cleaned mosin in my gun closet last night I noticed my much forgotten about Diana 24 .22 pellet gun ive had for 20 years. Mounted to said pellet gun is a fixed power 6x scope 1" tube, with 2 3/8 dovetail rings that look beefy......

So im going to put the UTG base on my Diana 24 and swap the rings from it onto my mosin as it wont require me to modify the mosin at all to fit them by the looks of it.

Will post pics when the scope arrives later in the week.

Not possible, even centered it would only grab with 2 screws, also cant center it anyways the barrel flares out for the chamber right behind the dovetail.

All 3 screws are acting to put pressure on the same, single edge that locks into the groove. It doesn't matter how long the base is.

You'll need to crank it down tight and then crank the set screw down tight, the set screw makes a big difference. I drilled a recess for the set screw and it held until I sold it (150 rounds or so).

Im going to give the rings off my Diana 24 a shot first, they have 2 screws each so will have 4 screws attaching the rings that way. Will update later today my scope arrived today so should be able to get this put together tonight or tomorrow.
