I have a super accurate Lee-Enfield with a very good scope that I like to use for deer hunting. I used to buy ammo from a reloading friend but he's got health issues lately so I need to buy commercial ammo this year.

Anyone with experience to share on commercial .303 ammo for deer hunting (soft point) ? I'm looking for the best quality and accuracy. Cost is not my first concern, quality and accuracy first.

Thanks

"Most accurate" factory ammunition can vary between individual rifles, so follow Ganderite's suggestion. But it is possible that your rifle won't make much difference between them. Before I started reloading mine shot Federal 150s and 180s and Remington 180 Core-lokts quite well enough, and no deer I hit with any of them got up again. I never tried Winchester ammo.

go out and buy a few box's of different brands types and weights and shoot the at paper use what shoots best in your gun no one will ever be able to tell you what will work best in your gun two guns of the same make and model can like to different types of ammo

I used 150gr Highland AX stuff in my Ruger no1, seemed accurate enough for Hunting Open sighted, althought I havnt tested on a Critter... id say a double lubg would be fine but maybe opt for 180gr if bigger deer are the target

all the major brands will be suitable for deer. I have a preference for Federals, but they all shoot acceptably for hunting. If your in a competition, it would be worth trying them all in your gun to see which groups the best, but you will be splitting hairs between them, and all will be "good enough" for your hunting needs.

I hunted almost exclusively, for the past 17 years, with a no1mk3 enfield. I just love the action. This year all my hunting has been with my custom no1mk3 shorty. I use federal and winchester. I found rem corelokt to cause way to much damage and shrapnel.

This year alone, I have harvested a 3x4 mule deer, a 4x4 mule deer and a fat 3-4 year old bull moose , all with my 18.5" barrelled no1mk3.
I was using winchester factory 180gr
All 3 animals went down hard with 1 shot on each.
