Take the XD-40My favorite all time hand gun is a Browning Hi-Power..... that said..... I have one in 40 S&W as well![]()
I'm also fond of the BHP's, 'course being a John Browning fan.... so +1 to the above.
I've shot literally thousands of rounds thru a Glock 22 but since this thread is about "other than the Glock 22" .... I would have to list my BHP MkIII .40 cal as high on the list.
I also have a S&W 4006 which is stainless & 12(6) that shoots very well. It's heaviness dampens down the felt recoil to about that of a 9mm.
And am also currently getting a .40 S&W barrel fitted to my Colt Delta Elite 10mm as a "drop-in ,swap out" barrel to take advantage of all the free .40 cal brass that the local cops leave laying around the local ranges every spring & fall when they do qualifications.
Para LDA in .40 or my M&P .40![]()
You know I've thought of getting a 40 just because of the free brass, seems a pity to just leave it there
I don't leave any reloadable brass laying around that I find. Even if I don't have a rifle &/or handgun in that ctg. I give the stuff I can't use away to people that can use it.I'm not a .40 fan but if I were to get one I'd go with Beretta 90two.
I relaod for 9mm and .45... I was just shooting my M&P9 and (new to me) steel framed P220 and the recoil was almost identical...wierd. But one day I will get a real .40" -- a 10mm that isOnce you start shooting .40 lots the 9mm just seems so anemic. The only reason to shoot 9mm is when you are out of .40 or .45....lol.... But for those that don't reload the 9mm makes sense. In these parts with the .40 cal brass laying around free it makes sense to take advantage of that, as for a reloader the brass usually is the most expensive component.![]()
I have to say I'm a bit sceprical about that. Most cops don't shoot that much thru their duty guns to have durability issues with them. I know policeordnace(?) were selling 92D LEO trade ins and it said the round count is ~1700-2700 rounds! I don't buy it for a second that there were any problems that early. I bet it had to do with costomer service, parts supply etc and of course the price..40S&W Berettas don't have a very good reputation for durability. Police departments that bought those guns in the 90's are dropping them like crazy.
Browning High Power or S&W M&P. Either is a step up, not an alternative.Looking for a range gun (no IPSC) just for fun. I was thinking of adding a Glock 22, but I'm a little Glock-heavy at the moment. Whadda you guys recommend as the best value for a quality piece at the moment?
