Best 45acp for the buck

I'll be getting a SAM made full-sized 1911 soon. I fondled and shot one recently and was quite impressed with fit and finish. From all reports they are GTG out of the box. However I'm going to play with it to some extent starting with a DIY trigger job and replacing a few parts with high grade replacements. I expect that will be all that's necessary from a sensible perspective. I've never been known to be excessively sensible but time will tell. At $650-700 everything tells be the SAM will be a bargain and something very good to base a more refined build on which is a reasonable expectation.

If it's your first 45 ACP then get the gun it was designed for: 1911. SAM seems to be where it's at for the lower priced end of the range. I got a great deal on a Ruger SR1911 and am very happy with it.

I had the same question....SAM Thunderbolt Stainless in the mail to me as we speak!!:)

Mine will be a Seraphim Archangel in .45. I have a very nice 1911 now and have owned other .45 ACP's but there's something magic about the 1911 especially if you like to tinker. The upgrade potential and 3rd party support for the 1911 is endless. At some point you can't improve the performance but you can still install bells and whistles as well as a wild assortment of grips. My guns always have two sets with one for formal occasions. :)

If u wanna hold some value for when u wanna sell it in the future stay away from SAM......ruger sr1911 is well worth it but new u will spend close to a grand...... Check EE for a used .45 but if you are planning on buying factory ammo it will be expensive to shoot
