You forgot a bunch, including the SIG 550, which is my favorite! Short Rifles/Carbines with select fire capability: again the SIG 552/551 are top picks, followed by the M4.

Ahem, we've been telling Wendy and her cabal that 'assault rifles' are nebulous. What you are talking about are military-styled semiautomatic centerfire rifles. ;)

Poll

From the list of rifles : the GALIL ARM : ---Because of the "tritium "night site, barbed wire cutter ----but most especially for the issue Bottle opener !!;);)

I vote for the M16/AR-15 due to the fact that it is so versitile and easy to mod the sights, barrel lengths, grips and even caliber's. All you need is one lower receiver and you can do almost anything with it.

Haven't fired the G36, or the Galil. Have fired a few of the modern Euro 5.56mm AK variants.

The light, accurate, reliable one that is easy to maintain, has good ergonomics, easily configured, and is STILL the choice of basically everybody who can freely choose, the M16 family of weapons.

Second choice, from that list, the FNC.

Realistically the minute Eugene Stoner threw up his hands and said "it's finished" in regards to the AR15 rifle concept, every pre-existing weapon was obsolete.

While I like the later iterations of the AK format, ergonomically they have been obsolete since the late 1950s.

While the Galil is a good attempt at improving the AK system's ergonomics, they kind of ruined a great Valmet.

So I have to put the M16 first, followed by the FNC (which is an AK evolution).

If you had the SIG series listed I would place them 3rd mainly because they do not use STANAG mags.
