Best 50 cal black powder set up

New to muzzle loading and looking for advice.
Thompson center encore 50 cal with 209 primer and 26 in barrel. What works best for you guys? Whitetails are main target and hoping to extend range as far as reasonably possible.
Suggestions on what optics to use are also appreciated TIA
 
Most guys in my hunting group have the CVA Acura with the thumb hole stock. Nice rifles.

I have a Traditions Vortek and pretty happy with that. For optics, I have a Leupold 2x9 Ultimate Slam Muzzleloader scope and it works fine.
 
That should be a good combination; I bought some but have not had the chance to shoot them enough to assess their full potential...
 
I have two CVAs and both like White Hot pellets and dislike Triple Seven Pellets. Both guns like Powerbelts and 250gr 45 cal sabots at 100 yards.

I have a Konus (sp?) scope on one (came with gun) and a Bushnell Dusk & Dawn 3-9X40 on the other. I'm happy with them.
 
Let me save you a great deal of time and expense. I have shot an Encore going on 20 years and shot everything from round balls, conicals and sabots just cause I wanted to see what the gun would do.
Let me be clear this is one of those guns that shoots where you point it and I will often credit the gun as it performs better than I most days. Won't trade it for love nor money.
Here are two loads that have worked consistently.
100gr loose FFFg triple 7, 200grn T/C Shockwave, shotgun primer but I will address that shortly
Currently shooting 100 grn loose FFFg Triple 7, 195 grn Precision Rifle Dead Centre. These are 200yd capable but rarely do I shoot a deer past 50
I have converted mine to a 25 Auto small rifle primer ignition and it has tightened groups to the point that I am confident to 200yds and practice makes it able. Precision now has a kit to convert the plug to large rifle primers to light Blackhorn which I have NO experience with.
Avoid Powerbelts has been my experience.
