Best 6.5 projectiles?

Eld-x/m have a little different weight between them.

I’m using 147gr ELD-M

130gr Berger Hydrid are supposed to be as good.

Weight will depend of your twist, the rest will be up to your reloading technic/accurate powder charge and seating depth.

Neck/FL sizing will not change much if done right.

What is your setup? how do you mesure powder charge? How is your neck tension?

Are we talking consistency or weights available?

You probably use the ogive to set your distance to the lands, but if you seat using COL check to be sure you're not into the lands. I've read a few posts about variances in the ELDs. Hornady may have that squared away now.
I used factory loaded 140 ELD-Ms to break in my Savage, they shot well, pretty consistent over the chronograph too. I checked the jump to the rifling, it was about 0.025" I think.

One of my buddies came to the range with his 6.5 Creed Savage Stealth and he was using 140 ELD-X. Shot pretty well from what I could see. We ran a bunch over the chronograph and I was blown away by how consistent the numbers were.

Which I'm guessing means the hunting round is the better bet as its designed to fragment

No, they are actually designed to stay together but mushroom to provide a larger wound channel and thus a greater chance of a clean/fast kill. The match bullets are more likely to break apart.

ELD-X 143gr, Eld-M 140 or 147gr

I would invest in better die than LEE like Redding Match S bushing die

Normally a FL sizing die with expending ball is supose to undersize the neck and expend it back just right.

I use the Lapua 139 gr. Scenar in mine, I did use berger 140 vld targets and hybrids.I found the lapua shot the best out to 1200 in my rifle even thow they list a lower BC and they are cheaper.Buddies are using 143 eldx in there 260's with great performance also.I am playing with them for a hunting round in my vanguard out to 400 yards so far with them and working great.

This is a reloading forum. We all know that those pointy things are called "bullets".

Dealers have to call them "projectiles" so that the ignorant masses don't confuse "bullet" with "loaded cartridge".

The bullet becomes a projectile only when in ballistic flight.

As for your question,: it has been my experience that just about any match bullet can be made to shoot well. The difference is that some are a bit fussy about things like jump and others seem to do well no matter how they are loaded.

If I was asking the question, I would ask "What bullet is easy to get good groups with out of a 6.5 Creed?

I have used the Sierra 142, the 140A Max, and the 139 Lapua. The Amax did not work well.

I buy the Lapuas by the 1000 bullet bulk box and find them the most economical.

My buddies and I have been having great luck with the 6.5 ELDs. We shoot the 147 in 4 different rifles and it has been super easy to load for. Not fussy about jump at all. Slick bullet, fun to shoot in the wind.

In my sporter model 96 the plain jane Hornaday 140 grain spitzer flat base under 44 grains of IMR 4350 has been punching ragged hole groups at 100 yards for many years.

Berger 140 hybrids. Very consistent and good BC.

I tried the Nosler 140 RDF's, as they have an excellent BC at a great price. Like anything, you get what you pay for - the RDF's are so inconsistent that as much as I tried, I couldn't get a decent group with them with anything over 3 shots. There's threads all over the internet about the RDF's and how people can't get them to shoot worth sh*t, so my experience is not isolated.

Bergers are my go-to for jacketed bullets. I've discovered that it's not worth my time experimenting with any other bullet brand in the cartridges I own, I can always make the Bergers work, and work very well.

Thats good info, thanks for your input

In the end I ordered some Hornady BTHPs and ELD-Ms from Jerry (Mystic)

I found some H4350 so my plan is to use that with the ELD-Ms and I`ll use up the IMR4350 with the BTHPs

If the H4350 is as good as the hype thats all I`ll use once the IMR is used up

my good friend has a Ruger RPR in 6.5 creed. he is using H4350 and 147 ELD's to shoot ragged hole groups @ 300 yards and its not in common to see him shoot 3-4" groups @ 600 yards. He has takin this load out to 1200 yards and it has preformed very well.

Now in my experience I always run to Sierra for accuracy and consistency. my old M96 swede loved the 142gr Sierra Match Kings, and if your ROT is fast enough (1-7.5)they have the 150gr Match king with a BC of .713. Be an excellent long range bullet especially on windy days.
