I think it's the RFB. Can't beat a 308 that's 26" in total length. It has all the benefits of a bullpup, without the penalty of cases being flung near your face. Plus it's super light to hold because all the weight is at the back.

I think he is looking for an AR type rifle in a 7.62/308 platform. I have fondled with an RFB and liked it except for the non-ambi charging handle (i can jury rig some kind of ambi control on it) and it taking FAL mags instead of regular ar10/sr25 mags.

I shot a fellow CGNer's RFB. Cool bullpup with a pretty good trigger actually, once you get the mags to work!

There is no easy answer to the OPs question. Use? Price range? Etc.

There were two fairly recent threads on this topic which would be a good read to get a the basics.

Sorry on an iPhone right now. Go Search and look for AR10. The 1 year setting is fine. This should get you up to speed. Then you can let us know which was the best for your uses!

"Best 7.62/.308 AR type"

Knight's Armament is making arguably the best .308 ARs out there.
Not best in class / great for the money / but THE best.
If you care about costs, LMT is making the next best thing that costs less.

Before this gets drowned out by the bush shooters, let me say while the RFB (and XCR-M) are interesting firearms in their own right which enjoy non-restricted status to boot - they are two POS next to an SR-25

I agree with Farmboy and would add the SIG 716 DMR (think they now call it the Precision with 18" barrel) but the SR25 is top on my list followed by SIG then DPMS.

You should have fondled it more, then you would know the charge handle takes less than 30 seconds to swap sides.

If anyone wants one mines on the EE :D shameless plug.

For an AR type 308 my vote goes to LMT. If I could afford one I would own one. I have a hard time spending that much on something that is restricted though.

Surprised no one mentioned the HK MR762...I'm just waiting for IRG to bring one of those bad boys in at a great price (not to say I don't love my Armalite AR10, 'cause I do...but I want one of those)

the charging handle is easy to swap from side to side on the RFB, It is one of the few true ambi guns out there due to it's forward ejection.
