Grabbed a Tisas 1911 in 9mm, but only comes with one magazine. From what I've read MecGar and Wilson Combat are good quality. Is this true? Are there any others? What do you prefer between solid plastic followers vs steel followers?

Thanks

What do you prefer between solid plastic followers vs steel followers?

If you are competing (ie: dropping mags on the ground), a steel follower has less contact on the side of the mag and is less susceptible to problems due to dirt.
If you are range shooting: both work just fine.

I used 4 wilson mags between 3 competition guns across 3 ipsc nationals.
I sometimes need to whack the lips a bit tighter literally with another mag.
I use them for dryfire mags in the basement and winter season mags for the concrete matches. They're 95% reliable, because of the feed lip expansion when hitting a hard surface.

I kid you not, those 4 mags have seen a minimum 180k rounds between them and absolutely, positively nearly infinite amount of hard floor drops and I still expect them to work in winter (as long as the feed lip gets whacked before I shoot)
I have 6 new(er) wilson mags that are flawless for summer.
They may be 40k rounds deep, and they don't need feed lip finess.

Thanks for all the replies so far.

I forgot to ask... what do you guys thinking about welded baseplate versus removable polymer baseplate?
