got my new 1911, came with 5 mags but they are 9 rounders, fine for steel and idpa but wont do for classic division, whats the best mags and base pads for a 9mm 1911?

its for a spartan btw

Tripp research works best for me. I have Wilsons and Tripp and prefer the metal follower in the Tripp over the composite one in the Wilsons. The Wilsons don't always hold the slide open after the last shot. I am using them in an STI Legacy and Dan Wesson Pointman 9.

Tripp Research is the winner buddy. They ship to Canada and the price can't be beat. I bought 5 and tax and shipping in they worked out to about $45 each. You can't find mags anywhere near as good in Canada for that price. Order 5-6 and they'll split the order b/c of the $100 limit. Great people to deal with.

I have a tripp that I like a lot as well, it wasnt sure how the plastic base pad will hold up

Tripp also sells aluminum base pads for their mags.

:agree:

I have both Wilson and Tripp for my Spartan.

- Have not had any issues with either

- Wilson are a harder to seat with 10 rounds in and the slide closed

- The Wilsons are more expensive, they have plastic/polimer follower and plastic spacer

- The Tripp feel/look to be better quality; they have metal follower and spacer

I just prefer the Tripp myself; call them and they'll ship to Canada no problem (they can ship max 3 at the time to stay below the $100).
